[GUI Plugin] Manage Sony x50 Reader Book List - Page 10

With the PRS+ addon you can assign a key to cycle through the various booklist options. So when you want to switch from next books in the series to the last opened books, you can just press that key two times.

A new release of PRS+ should come along tonight or tomorrow by the way, which resolves all known bugs, at least for the Book Management addon.

And if there are requests for additional options for the booklist, just drop me a line or post a reply to the PRS+ topic.

Lastly, my appreciation for kpw's great efforts still stands of course, and I will probably keep using this plugin beside PRS+. So no hard feelings, kpw?

Absolutely no hard feelings! Actually, I'm eager to see the new PRS+ drop when it comes out soon. Keep up the great work!

That is great.

But a combination of the two would be nice also.

This just saved me so much work! My reader was running slow and a reboot didn't help, so I deleted and re-added all my books thru Calibre. I highlighted all the books on the reader and set all the books to read at once.

With over 300 books this was a big help.

In looking at the previous post, I realized that I had neglected to post a fix for a compatibilty issue my plugin had with the latest iterations of PRS+. I found and fixed this some time back, but it seems I forgot to put the fix up for download. I'm guessing most folks won't run into the issue, but I want to make sure the fix is available just in case. So...

New version v1.2.8 of the Manage Sony x50 Reader Book List plugin has been posted with the following update:

1.2.8 October 21, 2011 Fix Unread Books collection issue that may occur when using this feature in conjunction with the PRS+ support for the same.

I just did the same thing and it worked so well and quickly on hundreds of books at once!!
Soooo much easier than any other way I've tried.

Hello,

I have a problem with this pluggin and the latest version of PRS+, as trying to manage my reading list lead to a crash of my PRS650 (get stuck on loading data).

Do you have an idea of what could be the reason for this behavior?

Sorry to hear that. Can you give me some more details on the behaviour you're seeing, and the steps that get you there? For example, what action are you performing with the plugin, and when does the crash happen (i.e. while running the action, or when the reader is booting)?

I'm using PRS+ 2.0.16 which is only one off from the latest, but I can try upgrading to see if there is anything different from what I'm running now. I'm guessing the problem might be locale or language related, but I'll wait for more info. I might need to get you to send me your cache file so I can see if there is anything there that the plugin might be tripping over.

In any case, I'll see what I can figure out when you reply with more details.

Thanks for the quick answer.

For PRS+, I am running the last version of trunk. I can give you the build for PRS650 if you want.

Steps leading to this problem:
1-Connect th reader to PC and calibre
2-Update books
3-Use the pluggin option Set unread collection
All parameters are default, only the query for unread is personalized with a boolean column. Action is terminated without obvious problems.
4-Eject using calibre
Wait, the reader is stuck after a few tens of seconds.

Repeating the same steps without using set mark as unread and the problem is avoided.
I have the cache after reboot following a crash before loading and my working cache if you need it.

I may have missed something but I don't see what. I would prefer to have your opinion before trying something else as I prefer to have a functional reader for now.

Just to give you an update, I'm still combing through the data you sent, and so far I'm not seeing anything that looks suspect. The updates that the plugin presumably made are in place (i.e. the "opened" flag is set), and the records I've seen so far look fine.

Was the error you got something that happened more than once or was it a one-time event (I wouldn't blame you for avoiding the scenario...)?
Have you been able to use the plugin in the past, or was this the first time using it?
If you've used the plugin before, was this the first time using it since upgrading to the latest PRS+, as you mentioned earlier? I don't know if the PRS+ factor is relevant or not, I'm just trying to come up with ideas...
When you fixed your reader after the crash, it sounds like you re-loaded your books using calibre and then let the reader boot up (i.e. without using the plugin). Did you happen to try rebooting the reader first after the crash to see if it would start then?

As you can probably tell, I'm kind of shooting in the dark to try and come up with some theories...

Happened at least twice, I will try it again as I have now a method to avoid big lags (ie copying the cache before using the pluggin)

No unfortunately, I have just bought my 650 and on my old 600 it was not useful.

I think I did not sure.
Loading the latest PRS+ version lead to a direct crash with shutdown, then after rebooting to another. Removing the SD card solved the problem.
I overwrote the cache with the last working version.
Still crashing, so it seems it is a PRS+ problem or at least a mixed problem.

I will post on PRS+ thread to see if someone come up with a solution.

I think I'd like to try the latest PRS+ now to see if I can replicate the problem - bugs are always way easier to fix if you can replicate!

Can you give me a pointer to the PRS+ build you're using? Hopefully I'll be able to give that a try this weekend.
