Check in what respect? I can look at the metainformation and manipulate that for DRM:ed books. Since I do not buy DRM:ed books I have had no reason to look at them. If people want me to examine DRM:ed books with respect to content they have to give me a version with no DRM.

What you could do is if your local library has Mobipocket eBooks for borrow, take one out and strip off the DRM and then test your program with it.

Why? In what way is this very minor fix so important to you that you want me to include a Windows version.

It seems that the Windows versions appear by themselves and I am very happy and very thankful to Gudy (or anybody else) that contributes them.

Test in what way? What do you think needs to be tested?

Also do not like DRM at all so I will not remove DRM or do anything else without a reason. But I am also helpful so I will try to solve people problem if I get files to test things with.

Version 0.0.35 available (no Windows binaries yet)

Verson 0.0.35 is available at

http://www.ida.liu.se/~tompe/mobiperl/

No Windows binaries for this version yet. Feel free to contribute them...

Just one small bug fix and some small changes regarding converting html from eReader books.

Changes in 0.0.35:
  • Fixed a bug with mobi2html and files where no codepage was specified.
  • Fixed a bug in "html2mobi --fixhtmlbr file.html". It now seems possible to use this for eReader books that have been converted to html and were <br><br> has been used instead of <p>.
  • Added a flag --keepbr to used together with --fixhtmlbr if you want to have space between paragraphs (as it was originally with <br><br>.

Tompe is INDEED exceedingly helpful! I had complained about my ereader books (converted to html) being centered or sometimes even right-justified (ragged left!). The --fixhtmlbr flag was polished up, and the --keepbr flag was added just because I wanted to keep my white space. These perl tools are really great!!

[ oh, and I appreciate the windows executable contribution, cuz I can't get the perl itself to work for me! ] Thanks!!

I like Perl...it is a great toolbox. I tried to make the Windows executables myself. But some people are so fast that the executables are available here before I can even make them.

Speaking of which, here's 0.0.35.

@JSWolf: Having others contribute builds for platforms you're not running yourself is standard operating procedure in many open source projects. Why are you asking tompe to provide those binaries as opposed to waiting for someone like me to do so?

True.. Thank you. Problem is, I never did get Perl to work properly to allow me to compile them.

That is very strange. What part of the instructions did you not understand or what part failed?

The problem was that some of the plugins don't work with the current version of ActivePerl. The version you said you are using isn't there anymore. So unless everything is updated to work with the current version, then it won't work.

Tompe states he uses ActivePerl 5.8.8 build 820. ActivePerl v 5.8.8 build 822 is one of two choices here:
http://www.activestate.com/store/dow...5-08d58c2648ca

It there is a significant enough difference between build 820 and build 822 to cause problems (which would surprise me), archives of older releases are here:

When I went to download, all I found was the 822 build. So I tried it and it's not compatible enough. I didn't find the older downloads. I'll grad 820 and give it a go and see if I can get it to work.

It is the PAR stuff (for packaging binaries) that is very sensitive to version. I explicitly wrote that it would not work with the latest version and I wrote that I spent hours testing different version to find a combination that worked. I also stated clearly that only if you wanted to build binaries you needed the 820 version.

Since the error report is "some of the plugins did not work" it is impossible to say anything.
