The Cinder Spires: The Aeronaut's Windlass is showing on Amazon as 640 pages. I wonder if this has/will affect his output.

Jim has stated publicly on several occasions that it's the longest novel that he's ever written. It's complete so if it has had any effect on Jim's output the effect has already taken place.

Isn't the Cinder Spires going to be a series? I think that was the concern; a series of long books (that aren't Dresden) might impact Dresden more than a series of short books.

If you have a plot that needs to fit into a book, then writing a short book will be harder than writing a long book. Movies in directors cut are usually better. Dresden itself already is longer than originally planned, because Jim did not account for the dynamics of relationships. Changes should have been book 10 and not book 12 if Jim would have strictly stuck to his master plan. I am sure his insights into divorce and his new engagement will give him some ideas on how to turn it into new Harry snarks - hopefully it will add a book or two. As much as I would like to get to the end, I rather he takes the scenic route and write more (more of Dresden that is). Only thing I don't want is that he drags his feet and writes slower - I hate to see him become as famous as JRR Martin. If it takes one other book inbetween Dresden books to speed up the next Dresden book, I am all for it.

How many books is it supposed to have in Cinder Spires? Any insights (maybe a link) to where Jim says it is the longest and maybe why other than just mentioning it is the longest?

The original sale to the publisher was for 3 books. I've posted links for at least 3 audio/video interviews this month and a couple that are links to printed interviews. Listen to them - read them - again!

Thank you. Will backtrack a little. Some of the interviews especially Youtube ones take a lot of time for me as I have to watch them at home. Most of MR I read when on the go or in places that don't make it easy to watch youtube (no unlimited data for me, bad reception, too noisy, ....). When at home other things do get priority - for example uninterrupted reading time of books (and not reading about books).

What I do remember is the 3 books Jim has secured the contract for - before we even had a release date. But even you say "at least" 3 books, so it is not yet written in stone if there may or may not be more. What I don't remember though, and maybe the answer lies within the last month you mentioned, is any plans of more than the 3 books.
