You're quite welcome!

I'm a little over 30% through Proven Guilty right now. I'm enjoying it, but it seems kind of... unfocused, I guess. I mean, that kind of makes sense because in the story, Harry isn't really sure what's going on yet either.

I figure if I pace myself properly, I should be wrapping up #13 shortly before #14 is released, if your guess is correct. And if not, well, it's not like I don't have a ton of stuff to read in the interim.

Cool The Dresden Files

Quote:
From jimbutcher.org

Ghost Story: Cage Match

I’m about 1/2 way through Ghost story…

…And I gotta say that I would put Ghost Story in an enjoyment Cage Match with about any book out there…including Jim Butcher’s previous offerings.

How do you make a dead character edge of your seat exciting? Read Ghost Story to find out!

I sort of got the feeling going through “Changes” … “Ummm ok, how is Jim going to top this? Or is Changes going to Jump the Shark?”

Well in this case Jim Butcher has done it…and he’s broken well past the board.

Listen, I can’t promise that you’re going to love Ghost Story.

But I can say that you’ve got nothing to lose by ordering a copy and digging in:

Best,

Mike
I have no idea who Mike is.

I get the impression that Ghost Story is more of a series reset than anything else. It's the first of the Dresden books that I didn't get as an audio book, simply because I thought that the book was perhaps the weakest of the Dresden books and they didn't use James Marsters as the narrator. All in all, I thought that Ghost Story was an ok read, but not something that I will re-read. I have re-read the other Dresdan books several times.

I'm burning through them faster than I expected. When I started the series, I'd put several books between each, but once I got past the first few I've had to force myself to wait a bit. Since my Dresden goal for 2012 is just to get caught up in time for #14, I don't have to wait, but I want to savor them.

I've finished Small Favor last night and went straight on with Turn Coat (haven't gotten that far though). Although this series is on my list to finish next year I wouldn't be surprised if I finish it before the end of this year.

So continuing with G. Norman Lippert stuff, I started The Riverhouse and though I've been enjoying it quite a lot, I really missed the Wizarding World I'd just left.

In response to this I took a short break and read 2 short stories by G. Norman Lippert that are connected to that Wizarding World, Harry's First Christmas and Merlin's Gift. I liked them both a whole lot. Harry's First Christmas serves as a back story for the Harry Potter books and Merlin's Gift as a back story for the James Potter series as well as connecting in as a back story for several myths and fairy tales.

Anyway, now back to The Riverhouse!! Which, by the way is starting to feel very Stephen King-like!

I just bought another G. Norman Lippert book, his latest, just released last month. It's called Ruins of Camelot and appears to be a straight fantasy, which I don't normally read, but it was the only thing by G. Norman Lippert (I seem to be on a G. Norman Lippert spree) available that I hadn't already read and was only $2.99 at lulu.com.

I've just begun reading a series written by Dana Stabenow, author of The Kate Shugak Mysteries and The Star Svensdotter Trilogy, called The Liam Campbell Mysteries, starting with the first book, Fire and Ice. I've had a problem not being able/willing to put it down (love it when I feel like that). When I got it it was available for free without DRM infestation at Stabenow.com and will be again when Amazon's promotional exclusive runs out in the Spring.

Come on Jim! Hurry up! I need book 14!

Cool The Dresden Files

Just to make it clear, this is an explanation of my previous post. It was supposed to share what I'm doing to fill the time till a new Dresden book is released. However, apparently it does, in fact, open new horizons for me besides just filling the time till a new Dresden release.

Filling time until new Dresden? Well, I read all six of the Pern books by Anne and Todd McCaffrey, set at the end of the Second Interval and beginning of Third Pass. (Started shortly before her death.) Then I decided I needed to re-read the entire Dragonriders series in chronological order, including the short stories as needed. So I read "The Survey: P.E.R.N" in First Fall, then Dragonsdawn, the rest of First Fall and am reading Dragonseye (Red Star Rising) now. Not going to re-read the Third Pass series so soon, so I'll skip them.

Could also say this is what I'm reading to pass the time until the next book in that series gets published. Was supposed to be out May 2011 but the McCaffreys and the publisher decided to push it back.

If the next Dresden drops before I get through all the Dragonriders, I'll switch over to the Dresden. Not likely such an event will happen as I read fast, all 7 Harry Potter books in two weeks, Forstchen's massive "Lost Regiment" books in a single sitting each...

Makes me wonder what people are doing when it takes them a month or more to read one book.

Here's an idea! Try The Dresden Files RPG and see if anything offered there appeals to you.

Too many videogames make me read RPG as Rocket Propelled Grenade instead of Role Playing Game.

Harry Dresden would likely wish for an RPG to apply to some of the nasties he's gone up against.

A few years later he was back with the NYMT at the Bergen Festival in a production of 'The Ragged Child'.

After numerous commercials in the mid 90's (most notably the Virgin Atlantic GRIM REAPER commercial), he was back on stage at The Nottingham Playhouse in a production of Tennessee Williams' play SUDDENLY LAST SUMMER.

Soon after this came parts in Peak Practice, Jonathan Creek, and as the pill popping surgeon Guy Morton in Holby city.

Paul then played Romeo in Mathew Parkhill's short film ROMEO THINKS AGAIN, and then the messed up Dan in Simon Rumley's THE TRUTH GAME.

Around this time he had his first photographic exhibition in London: 'Fish heads and other things', raising money for GREENPEACE.

Paul then played Captain Russell in the Oscar nominated film LAGAAN directed by ASHUTOSH GOWARIKER, and starring and produced by AAMIR KHAN.

In 2001 Paul had another photographic exhibition - Bollywood Backpack. These pictures were taken whilst shooting Lagaan, and his travels around India thereafter. Money raised from this exhibition went to the BRITISH RED CROSS to help toward their extensive relief efforts of the GUJARAT EARTHQUAKE. (The area in which the shooting of Lagaan had taken place the year before)

In 2002 Paul was cast as as Dr Matt Slingerland in the John Wells show PRESIDIO MED.

Following that he played Mr Shakespeare in THE BLANK THEATER COMPANY'S production of 'Women are the weaker sex'.

Paul then played Dr Jeremy Lawson in ER, Henry Stoller (and son) in MEDIUM, and biological terrorist Stephen Saunders in season 3 of 24.

Independent film credits around this time include FOUR CORNERS OF SUBURBIA and SPECIAL.

Then came MONK, DEADWOOD and THE DRESDEN FILES.

Paul played Shane Healy for two seasons alongside Brooke Shields in the NBC show LIPSTICK JUNGLE.

He appeared in the Robert Zemeckis film A CHRISTMAS CAROL and The Gold Lunch, a short story written by Robert Carlson, adapted for screen by Sally Robinson and directed by Joanna Kerns.

He then featured in the documentary film THE MISSING PEACE in which he experienced an audience with HIS HOLINESS THE DALAI LAMA.

Paul then went about producing and directing his own documentary American Crossroads A journey in to America after the economic collapse and the election of President Obama.

After shooting the film Paul exhibited photos from his trip to India at TIBET HOUSE in New York, entitled DELHI TO MANHATTAN The sale of photos and an auction hosted by Brian Cox helped raise money for the TIBETAN CHILDREN VILLAGES of India.

Following this, post production began on AMERICAN CROSSROADS. During this time Paul has appeared in...

BURN NOTICE
LEVERAGE
CSI MIAMI
THE GATES
WHITE COLLAR
....and now he's in a new TV series, ABC's The River. It is about the crew of a state-of-the-art research vessel on a quest to find a missing TV explorer in the Amazon. It is being filmed on location in Puerto Rico.

P.S. NYMT is National Youth Music Theatre located in London, UK
