I think here in sweden we are leaning towards calling them "Läsplatta" ... which makes me want to hit someone really hard with a blunt object whenever I see someone refering to it as that.

Läsplatta roughly translated to english means reading tablet or reading plate.

Well, if it had been made by Apple and a well known Swedish furniture manufacturer, we would probably have called it an iKEA

That is in fact pretty accurate

I have quite often been asked just that when I've been using my BeBook in public. And for you who doesnt understand swedish. "vadfanärdet" means "what the hell is that"

"leesplankje"... "plankje" is the short version of it. And I get exactly the same feeling!

The name "leesplankje" is actually a well-known Dutch word for this:

It was an old method for children to learn to read. It contains all "normal words", words in which the vowels and consonants have their unchanged sound. Every Dutch person should know aap noot mies!
