quotev.com has changed a bunch of their HTML. It will be a bit while we get that fixed.

I have, many times in the past asked about things that are easy to miss, so no problem pointing that out for you.
The other thing that may be easy to do for backup purposes - especially if you've got a library properly setup, is backup the metadata.db in your library folder. It has a LOT of stuff that would be nice for future crashes. All the metadata for one, which includes all the story URLs. Personally I have a dozen columns or more with all the metadata info, so this is a big difference in my backups. But even if you dont, it'll retain the name author and synopsis. This database isn't huge, I have ~17k fanfiction in one archive of stuff I've acquired over the years and even with all the metadata, the database is only about 50mb so it'd be a good backup for minimal space. I would have written this last night, but I was going to bed and the simple answer was what you were looking for. Plus I had to verify that a calibre database kept all the metadata in the database. (I was only 90% sure in my sleepy state). |

The second story is because someone probably felt the need to request its removal from fictionhunt.com, so while it's an archive they remove at request. You'll notice that they offer a takedown email at the bottom of their frontpage as well. As for the first, and only showing 53 chapters instead of the 54 in the metadata? Well, it probably got deleted between the collection of the metadata and the actual download of the story - because ff.net has so much going on I'm sure it has a queue service of some sort between collecting metadata and downloading. I could provide multiple examples of stories no longer available on ff.net that are available here. I've been going through lists and checking stories the last few days. I recently have been laid off and wanted to get in some reading, so was looking into different lists/stories to download and read so I have run across several that were on a list, but no longer available on ff.net. fictionhunt had them though. All of these are story ID numbers that are valid on fictionhunt and have disappeared off ff.net. These are all HP, and I have only thrown in 40 to show the validity of fichunt. I have 120 or so that I can provide between HP and Naruto of stuff I have run across that isn't available any longer. I tend to keep notes forever, and I have a list of stuff I run across that's not on ff.net anymore, so it's not difficult for me to go through it and check what fichunt has. Anyway, the list: 8141078, 8653189, 6888301, 4930497, 9254704, 7497026, 9714782, 11369481, 10659735, 6836519, 3528367, 7692895, 7308255, 11232001, 5190840, 8509128, 7302255, 11631837, 8075692, 7362368, 11333314, 7528576, 5506246, 7805862, 5902170, 1149713, 6898916, 8172524, 4382051, 4133294, 7863427, 2754618, 8633479, 8972778, 3633474, 5988270, 2197640, 6407814, 11349179, 4318549 Most I personally have no interest in at all. One or two I found on fichunt had been 'taken down' probably at the authors request. But there were a couple I might consider reading and are on my own personal queue list for when I want to bother downloading them page by page or reading via my phone. Would it be possible to use the "Default Background Metadata" for new downloads as well?
It would be really fantastic. Thanks |

When I added that feature, I did consider new downloads, but there are just too many cases where user input may be required. |

When deciding to back up my story url list on dropbox in case my computer and backups failed, I remembered that some of the stories I downloaded don't exist on the internet any more. Thus, the url list won't be able to get them back. Thus, my question:
Is there a way to set FFF or calibre to add a tag* to stories if there a specific comment in the FanFicFare log, such as "Story does not exist:[story url]", when they are checked by FanFicFare? Thanks. * Changing a custom column, adding it to a reading list, or similar would also be okay. |

Also, is there a way to make it not include "already contains n chapters" as an error, &/or make that error go to a different custom column. And to make the error message in the column the same for all error messages of the type, no matter how many chapters there already are? |

Thanks. I went to calibre's manual, and I think I've got things figured out now.
