I want: CharacterA/CharacterB CharacterA & CharacterB I have added Lines: ships=> /=>/ ships=>/ =>/ to remove any spaces on either side of the / but I don't know if there is a way to make sure there is a space on either side of the &. |

Multiple links for individual books
Hello
First of all, FanFicFare is a great plugin, but how can I download multiple links from individual books? I enter a link and it searches for all available individual books, but it is also possible to enter several links which then search for the individual books. If this is not possible, you could add this function. I hope I explained it reasonably well. Thanks |

I'm not interested in adding that ability because I'm afraid it would lead to "too many" downloads at a time. That can cause problems for you, for the site servers, and for everyone if the site then decides to start blocking more aggressively. What "too many" means isn't precisely defined, but you can look at what we have to do to use FFF with fanfiction net now to see an example of what can happen when the site starts blocking aggressively. |

Hi Jimm, Merry Christmas.
When using "get stories from URL" on my Ao3 bookmark page, and I have a story bookmarked, which is in an anthology it pins the anthology for update. However, if I have a series bookmark - It ignores it completely. Any chance of pinned "series" bookmarks as well instead of completely ignoring them as its currently doing? |

Not really.
FFF knows how to identify story URLs, but series URLs aren't as integral to the program. |

FFF fails when updating a particular fic of ff.net
I have no problem downloading or updating fics from ff.net, except with only one.
When trying to update this particular fic from ff.net FFF fails and give the following error: Quote:
But since the chapter 6 were posted in 17/11/2023, the error stated to happening when trying to update the fic. So, maybe there is something in the chapter 6 of that fic that is messing with FFF? My setup is the following: OS: Linux Mint 21.2 x86_64 Calibre version: 7.2 FanFicFare version: v4.30.0 FlareSolverr version: 3.3.12 Like always thanks in advance. I would test by putting https://www.fanfiction.net/s/14260077/1/[1-5] in Download from URL and downloading as new story. This only downloads the first five chapters, so if it doesn't error, that'll indicate a problem with chapter 6.

I'm not seeing this happen using either Browser Cache or Flaresolverr.
I'm using: OS: Win10 Calibre: 7.2 FFF: v4.30.1 Flaresolverr: 3.3.12 "not well-formed (invalid token)" appears to be an XML parser error, judging by google returns. Are you using a vendored version of Calibre (IE, from your OS) or the official version? Have you put a website_encodings setting in personal.ini? I'd also try setting continue_on_chapter_error:true |

https://calibre-ebook.com/es/download_linux No. I searched in my personal.ini, just in case, and didn't found any instance of that option. That one was in false. I tried setting ii true for ff.net, but the same error happened. Quote:
Just in case I attached the epub of this fic to see if any can be discerned from it. As always thanks in advance. |

I don't know where it came from, there are some bad characters in the content.opf in that epub. The error is actually coming from the code to read the existing epub for update. It's the story description which doesn't match what's on the site anyway.
I used Calibre's Edit book, then Tools > Check book to find it. I can see the "not well-formed (invalid token)" error, too, when I attempt to update your epub. Or even Overwrite Always (since I have have include_logpage on). I'd just delete that book and download it again fresh. That works for me. |

Is it possible to have replace metadata move a tag from 1 metakey to another?
eg. if there's a tag in FreeFormTags that says "mentioned Character A" and you want have it instead say "Background & Cameo Characters" in Characters |

It's possible, but it's a bit involved.
There isn't a 'move' option as such, you have to copy and delete. Conceptually similar to moving files from one drive to another. Except you also want to edit it along the way. Here's a theoretical example. I haven't tested it--I'd need a story that meets the criteria. Code:
[archiveofourown.org] ## create a new metadata entry to edit add_to_extra_valid_entries:,freeformchars ## copy everything in freeformtags into it. ## NOREPL means before replace_metadata, etc include_in_freeformchars:freeformtags.NOREPL ## copy freeformchars (after replace_metadata, etc) into characters, ## but keep characters too include_in_characters:characters,freeformchars add_to_include_metadata_pre: ## include only tags from freeformchars that contain 'mentioned', ## delete everything else freeformchars=~.*mentioned.* add_to_exclude_metadata_pre: ## delete everything from characters that contains 'mentioned'. characters=~.*mentioned.* add_to_replace_metadata: ## remove substring 'mentioned' freeformchars=>mentioned=> ## prepend Background & Cameo Characters freeformchars=>^(.*)$=>Background & Cameo Characters \1 To catch different cases like 'mentioned' vs 'Mentioned' vs 'mentions' vs 'mention:' and whether it's before or after the name would require more complex regexes and are left as an exercise for the reader. (Do text books still say that? ![]() |

I'm thinking I may not do the usual monthly release this time.
There was only one change that, as far as I know, affected very few stories. Anyone have evidence that disagrees? Quote:
