RoyalRoad Black Box with Black Text
I'm reading a story on RoyalRoad that has a lot of tables that it uses as system screens. The problem is that while they show as white text on a black background on the web site, they show as black text on a black background in the epub. Looking at the source code for the page, they set the background and border colors, but not the text color. I'm not sure what is changing the font color as I can't see anything in the code. Here is an example.
Code:
<div style="max-width: 100%; overflow:auto"><table style="background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); border-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 1); width: 76.2458%" border="1"> <tbody> <tr> <td style="width: 100%"> <p style="text-align: center"><strong>Congratulations on your victory, the rewards will be presented to you now.</strong></p> </td> </tr> </tbody> </table></div> https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/33...3-trial-part-4 - Andrew |

Quick question: Is there any time limit of how long user can keep the "update library?" prompt open and still have it work, assuming Calibre remains open? I sometimes alt+tab and forget about it.

![]() Another is to add to the CSS. Inspecting one of the tables in browser finds that the text color is set from one of the site CSS files. Tweaking the CSS selector to match FFF default output, this works for me in personal.ini: Code:
add_to_output_css: .chapter-content table td { color: #ccc; } |

At least I figured out how to view the CSS so I can figure out what I need for each one! Thanks again! - Andrew |

I've noticed many authors mistakenly use authorfootnotes for what should be a chapter 1 chapterfootnotes. (It's an easy mistake to make; I've done the same though corrected it later.)
Can FFF change the note type and assign it to a specific chapter? EDIT: Example seen in this story when clicking on "see the end of the work for notes". Last edited by ownedbycats; 03-04-2023 at 07:15 PM. |

How would FFF know which chapter you want it on? And how would it put it in there? Especially in light of FFF only doing minimum processing of prior chapters on update to preserve user edits? IE, the adapter's getChapterTextNum() isn't called for preexisting chapters on update.
I really don't think this is something worth that much special handling. If you have remove_authorfootnotes_on_update:true you could consider turning it back off to maybe get something vaguely similar: Code:
## AO3 authorfootnotes and inspiredlinks end up in the 'last' chapter, ## but if updated, then there's a new 'last' chapter, leaving multiple ## copies. This option applies the 'skip_on_ffdl_update' class to ## those tags which means they will be removed during epub reading for ## update. This will only effect chapters added after turning the ## setting on. ## Result: Only the last chapter will have end notes. ## Side-effect: An 'Update Always' that doesn't add a new last ## chapter will also remove the end notes. #remove_authorfootnotes_on_update:false |

Seeing as it only mininmally changes chapters, my second option was manually editing and excluding authorfootnotes with a story section, which should work as long as I avoid overwrites (or deleting the first chapter).

On the topic, can I block a certain update mode for specific stories? For example, overwriting where I don't want to undo manual edits. Reject works sometimes, but not if the story is expecting further updates.
