Question: Without setting up a custom column to test, is there any obvious mistakes with the personal.ini tweaks I posted in the metadata management thread?
Intention is to edit freeformtags for the Calibre column and leave the original on the titlepage of the story. Code:
[defaults] custom_columns_settings: editedfreeform=>#yourtagcolumn # 'add_to_' concats on to existing param, thus the leading comma add_to_extra_valid_entries:,editedfreeform include_in_editedfreeform:freeformtags replace_metadata: editedfreeform=>SomeTag=>SomeEditedTag exclude_metadata_pre: editedfreeform=~SomeConversationalTagThatMakesNoSenseWhenSorted Last edited by ownedbycats; 02-25-2023 at 11:54 AM. |

Nothing, just wanted to be sure that I wasn't leaving something out without setting up a column for testing. Thanks

I don't mind helping when there are problems you can't find, but I'd prefer you take a 'try it and see' approach more often instead of asking me.

ScribbleHub has turned up their CloudFlare level due to a wave of bot attacks. I'm hoping Tony will be able to turn it back down soon, but while I'm waiting for that, I went looking on RoyalRoad to see which stories I could get from there instead. When I tried to download ones that have an identical title and author, they tried to update the ScribbleHub version instead of creating a new one.
So, my question is, is there any way to get FFF to consider the site when looking for a matching story to update? - Andrew |

Not really. There's no way for FFF to associate the same story on different sites.
You can change the Calibre identifiers:url to the other site, but then an update will replace all existing chapters (due to chapter URLs not matching). Or initiate a download with the new site story URL and if you have the 'Search Title/Author' option on. |

Currently, I've been adding a "-s" to the end of the ScribbleHub stories to prevent title matches, but was hoping for a more programmatic approach. - Andrew |

Uncheck the 'Search Title/Author' option. FFF Config, General tab, right hand side towards the middle in Misc Options.
However, you will potentially have problems sending books to devices if you have multiple with the same title and author. Honestly, adding something to titles (or authors) for the newer site with a replace_metadata setting is likely the best bet. |

ffnet: When both check_next_chapter and open_pages_in_browser are active, it opens a 404 page for the nonexistent next chapter something like 4-6 times. The "chapter not found" page seems to be no-cache so opening it in advance failed. Is there anything else I can do or should I consider them mutually exclusive?

Hello,
I would like to know if there is a way to use your plugging to basically save all my Ao3 account bookmarks offline on Calibre please? I know it's not made to copy a lot of links at once but I was thinking of archiving the lot once then only checking on updates on the two most recent pages of bookmarks (once sorted by date updated). Sorry if it's a crazy idea or if the question has already been asked, the search in thread option didn't have super conclusive returns. Also, lots of appreciation for your work! |
