I don't know where you're talking about, but I suspect it's not directly part of this plugin. I don't remember any popup for series name in FanFicFare.

You can edit the series name associated with each book in the regular Calibre edit metadata dialog. I use the Manage Series plugin also.

If you mean the title for an anthology book, change it as you would any other title with the Calibre edit metadata dialog.

Hey, I am having a problem with the new plugin update for FanFicFare that whenever I update all my fanfiction stories. They reach only to 22 currently scanning for new chapters and then freezes there. It never happened when I update the stories. It would check URL of all stories smoothly but when it starts to scan for the new chapters which starts to freeze.

Please check this issue. You are amazing to have this plugin to get me over 3000 stories to read and update.

What site are you using? If it's fanfiction.net it could be that you are running into their "limiter", meaning the limit you to a certain number of connections before the block you for a while.

FAQ: Why shouldn't I just select my entire library and use FanFicFare plugin to check for updates?

odd. It never happened to me when I was just scanning all 3000 stories to be able to get about 10-20 new chapters to update and download. Its possible due to the new update plugin. Ill check and see if I can make it infinite.

Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. That kind of abuse of the site's bandwidth can have repercussions for people other than yourself, as the site owners crack down and institute timeouts, etc., in order to keep their traffic more reasonable/affordable for themselves, thus making it more difficult for everyone to connect and download.

New test version posted:

• Make passing Calibre Columns in optional (see personal.ini tab) and only pass savemetacol data when column is configured to reduce data passed to/from BG processes.

This is an internal optimization that might help those users who insist on abusing the update feature. I continue to have no sympathy for such users, but I also don't need to hear them complaining.

BTW, it seems like we have fewer users trying out the test versions than we used to--witness the bug that necessitated releasing v2.2.8 the same day as v2.2.7 even after the test version was out for a couple weeks.

Would more people try the test versions if I went back to posting them in line? Or if I used a direct download link to the test zip?

Downloaded a few new fanfics without problem & updated one (but it took ages (but could be my shifty connection)) so didn't find anything

(did Fanfiction, Stories online, fiction pad (all new) and updated AO3)

I´ve got a column "AO3 collections" which has been filled with a setting in personal.ini.

custom_columns_settings:
collections=>#collections_ao3

That worked previously. Now that column stays empty.
Unfortunately I can not say exactly since how long as I noticed only today.

I haven't been making a point of downloading them, because I keep forgetting that I have to go back to the first page to get them, so posting them inline would probably make me more likely to do so. That said, I would not have noticed that bug because I don't heavily use or update anthologies because I avoid reading WIPs.

Make sure you have a space at the start of each custom columns setting line:

[archiveofourown.org]
custom_columns_settings:
 collections=>#collections_ao3

Other than that, I don't know what to tell you--it works fine for me.

Possibly. I can't say without knowing your settings.

Another possibility is if you have add_to_custom_columns_settings / custom_columns_settings in [epub] or [overrides] sections.
