New "Mars" device from Likebook?

Has anyone ordered this cover from Amazon?

Different finishes are shown (photos 1, 2 and possibly 5). One place it says natural leather, another pu leather. Wondering if it's the same as the original cover for the Likebook Plus (finish shown in photo 2) which I already have.

I don't know about the cover for the Likebook Plus, which I don't have, but the top photo and the bottom two photos look like what I got with my Likebook Mars. Photos 2-4 look different and have a Chinese logo instead of an English logo. According to Amazon, the item size of the Mars is 19.8 * 14.4 * 0.93cm/ 7.8 * 5.7 * 0.3in, and the item size of the Plus is 19.8 * 14.4 * 0.83cm/ 7.8 * 5.7 * 0.3in. It looks like the dimensions are being given in both metric and imperial units. According to the metric dimensions, the Mars is slightly wider, but according to the imperial dimensions, they are the same. If they are the same, then cases for one will fit the other. If they are different, they might not. One clue is that the English text on the case is Likebook, not Likebook Mars. This suggests that cases for the Plus are being reused for the Mars, though I could not confirm this without owning both devices or getting word from Boyue. If no one else can help you, I suggest asking Boyue directly.

Is there a possibility to install backwards v1.4? Because "the overall contrast enhanced" makes fonts thick and makes horrible ghosting in A2 mode.

Can you please check the screen when black background with moderate light are set? (Koreader- Night mode) do you see any area which is not as bright as the other?

I think the backlighting is even at least based on my standards. I usually use it with white background but I also checked the KOReader's night mode and it still looked even.
I did have readers w/ uneven backlighting and it bothered me. This one doesn't have that problem IMO.

Im not happy with this update

Are you using the builtin reader ?
I was installing custom fonts in KOReader and some of them are very thin, I don't think they are being messed with by the OS. So maybe that change is just for the builtin reader app, not the OS ? And then you can just use a different reader app ?

Bc the firmware updates contain other fixes that maybe are good to have ...

Can the backlight be turned fully off ? I see it's still on (very dim of course) at the lowest setting.

With the battery being consumed at tablet rate I think it would be helpful not to have it on while there is daylight ...

No, Im using AlReader, but it is using the system installed fonts and it looks terrible
The other problems, that are fixed i never have seen before - therefore this update is contrary to a win for me

Yes, you can toggle the light on and off without changing the brightness level. Just tap the sun image where it says LIGHT # or LIGHT OFF.

My frontlight is definitely off when I turn it off in the drop down menu.

Edit: just saw the answer above mine now, exactly that!

I have both devices and the cover from the Mars fits the Likebook Plus, but you have to put it on upside down. The charging port, power button, etc is on the bottom of the Mars.

Ah, so that may be the difference in the one listed for the Mars as well as a different finish, apparently. They also have another for five dollars less that looks like the one that came with the Plus.

Hello:

I appear to have the following undesirable Likebook Mars behavior:
If, in App-->Android Settings, you select battery, there are two options for reducing battery usage. One is battery saver mode, the other is application optimization. Selecting and turning on both of these options appears to have some beneficial effect on power consumption.

However, it would appear that upon charging the device, or connecting the device to USB, the power conservation options are turned off. When disconnecting from the charger or USB port, the power conservation options *remain off* and have to be manually turned back on.

Has anyone else noticed this, and is there perhaps a work-around other than the manual reset?
