Wow that is quite a bit more orange. Thanks so much! If they can get those initial kinks worked out of the system, I think that might be the one.

If I didn't see the Nova, I would not have thought that anything was wrong with the Mars' frontlight. I like the orange on the Nova better than the warm shade on my Mars. A recent firmware update on the Nova allows for a wider range of brightness (big plus). |

Mt Mars light is very orange, more like what your picture of the Nova but pretty intense.

I got my 128GB Micro SD card today. The Likebook Mars recognized it right away without any need to format it, but it treated it as external memory, which would not work with moving apps to it. So, I formatted it for use as internal memory, and it is working just fine that way. After it formatted it, it offered to move several data files to it, which I let it do. I then moved some apps to it. In using the File Manager, I noticed that it now just showed me internal memory, and internal memory was now the SD card memory. When I connected it to my computer, it just gave me access to the SD card, but the directories and files I could previously access on the device were now on the SD card. I put the SD card for my MP3 player into my computer and copied over some music, then I played some of it with an app for playing MP3s.
To anyone who thinks that the Nova having 32 GB of internal memory is better than the Likebook Mars having an SD card slot, you are simply mistaken. Using the SD card slot, I have raised my internal memory to 117.2 GB, which is a lot more than the 32 GB on the Nova. Regarding how orange the warm light is, my warm light on the Likebook Mars is very pale. While I can tell the difference between it and the white light, I would not call it orange. It is more of an off-white than it is an orange or yellow. |

If Boyue has fixed this, and you can install system updates, then you are absolutely right about the sd card slot being better. If not, then we can only hope that Boyue will fix this problem. As for the frontlight, it sounds like your light is similar to mine. Last edited by downeaster59; 11-30-2018 at 08:19 PM. |

I saw a post in another forum from someone who says that, if we use adoptable storage, firmware updates can be installed if we download the update and then update manually. I'll experiment with that the next time an update is available.

Oh, I'll try that too, as I've got adopted storage as well and couldn't install the latest update from a few weeks ago because of that.

After a while with this tablet, I'll relegate it to reading in bed at night. The e-ink screen is so much easier on the eyes, especially when I'm tired. But for most of my reading I'm going back to the iPad Mini 4. Just so much better performance makes it a better choice for me.
I like the idea of these e-ink Android tablets, but it just seems from my limited experience on this one, and comments in other threads about others, they just don't perform as well as I would expect. I accept that e-ink is laggy, just the nature of the beast, but this tablet has a decent processor and ram and should perform better than this. I don't regret buying it, but it will be my last foray into e-ink Android tablets, IMO, they all seem to disappoint. Sent from my Google Pixelbook using Tapatalk |

Are people equating the paleness to less brightness? Does adjusting the "brightness" level provide more 'darkness'? Also, could the orange be like the Kobo where Kobo lies that the default time the orange gets turned on is at 11:00 PM but the orange really gets turned on at 10:00 PM then gets darker at 10:30 PM & 'full darkness(?)" at 11:00 PM. May have to check if the comfort light get darker over time.
I don't use the "comfort light" as it is a bit of eyestrain for my eyes as not enough light & contrast. But then, before cataract procedures, my eyeglass correction was at -14 diopter. I do not read in the dark except when there is a power outage! |

Here's a comparison of my Mars. In daylight it's almost impossible to tell the difference. I have to go into the dark before it's noticeable:
