Yeah I went to the Play Store and tried multiple programs, found it to be my favorite.
Plus one for MoonReader+...Besides the killer feature of 2 column landscape reading, I also use the auto-scroll by "pixel" (this I run in portrait mode with page up/down). It's smooth enough that it just looks like a constant stream. If you have a tablet stand on your headrest (which i do), you literally flip that sucker on and its pure lazy reading in bed.

That's about what i'm getting when i'm typing with a bluetooth keyboard. I'm usually home when doing so so I just plug it in after i use it for a few hours.

Battery life just sucks compared to any e-ink device I have ever had and turning it off isn’t so good since it all too often comes back up in Chinese. The battery life is worse than any device I have for that matter. And as much as I like having an 8” e-ink reader, this just may end up getting returned. And that is sad.
I wonder what vendor you bought it from. I did the same and it came with a perfect fitted case like the old Paperwhite cases. You might bother the vendor and see what's up with that.

As for battery life, you're not going to get the same time because it's running a full vanilla version of Android. You could mess with the settings (ex, instead of just toggling off Wifi, go into Setttings-Wireless and Networks-More and turn on airplane mode. This alone gets me many many extra hours. With bluetooth off and light off when i'm not using it, i easily get a few days which is plenty as we all have usb plugs everywhere these days. Know it's not Kindle e-reader battery life but for the things it can do compared to a Kindle, perhaps it's the compromise.

Agree though, if you're not happy with it return it. I bought an 8" Kobo Aura one and sold it on ebay after a few days because it didn't do what I needed it to do (Wikipedia offline via Kiwix, Gmail with bluetooth keyboard, 2 column landscape reading, Pocket, NY Times using A2, etc). If it's not for you, get that money back and buy an ereader that serves your needs.

Yes, those will work perfectly (deleting my other post, I thought at first glance it was a case from the Aura One). The screen size is the same so it'll fit great i'm guessing. Let us know how it goes.

I just tried Ereader Prestigio and compared it to Moon+Reader. In regular mode, Prestigio
has smoother transitions than Moon+Reader. In A2 mode, Prestigio is basically the same, but Moon+Reader has gotten seamless transitions. In comparison, I think Prestigio's transitions are a little bit jumpy, and I prefer Moon+Reader in A2 mode.
So upon further digging, the only time Moon+ does this sort of hitching with Anti-aliasing, is on landscape mode. I switch to portrait and it transitions pages normally. Odd.

Two questions for assistance...

1. How do you restart the device? I've looked through the settings and can't seem to find it.

2. Updated to the latest firmware and don't see that "Dict" folder to add a dictionary. Any solutions?

Thank you for any help.

Press the power button and select the option to restart it.

You have to add it yourself. You can do that with a file manager or by connecting your Likebook Mars to a computer. I did the latter.

Wow, how stupid can i be? Haha. Thanks. I added a "Dict" folder this afternoon and it wasn't showing up so the native app couldn't find it in the root. I suspected it needed a reboot to work and sure enough, good to go now after the reboot. Thank you for solving both of my problems, fduniho

Sidenote: external dictionary now great. embedded dictionary still showing up only in Chinese? Do you have this as well or does your embedded dictionary show up in English too?

I am considering buying the Likebook Mars but I am still skeptical because I read that sometimes the OS freezes and you have to reboot it again. Is this still a problem after the lastest update?

I’ve not had any issues since the latest two updates. Even the battery life is much better.

Now if they could just get the Nook app to work I’d be a very happy camper.

Likebook Mars - Very Scary Disappearing Book Bug

With the latest November update, after using the system supplied browser for a while, and upon attempting to return to the book I was reading, the Mars asserted that the book did not exist, and asked confirmation to delete the books information!

At first I was astonished and didn't know what to do, so I ended up deleting the books information (according to the reader). The book entry then vanished from the bookshelf.

Curious, I opened another book that I had been recently reading. Surprise! Same message, inviting me to delete the book's information because assertedly, the book does not exist on my device!

After three of my 150 books disappeared from the bookshelf in this shocking manner, I decided enough was enough, and rebooted the Mars.

Upon rebooting I was able to open books in my bookshelf without receiving the alarming and horrifying "your book does not exist" message.

Of course, since I was reading the books that vanished I attempted to re-upload them via wi-fi transfer. Surprise! The transfer program doesn't care about all this disappearing book intrigue, and it refuses to upload the book that vanished from my device. I can only guess why because the Wifi transfer program only speaks chinese characters!

Desperate, I tried actually deleting the books from my device as they were still listed on the Wi-Fi book transfer interface. After actually deleting the books in this way, I was permitted to re-upload them.

And, Surprise! When I opened the books that re-appeared on my bookshelf, they opened at the very position I had last been reading. Whew!?

Some positive closing remarks: I must say that I really like the Likebook Mars generally (apart from an under the glass screen defect requiring return and replacement that I hope will be defect free). Font and dictionary installation works, but keep in mind that they call the visible main directory of the internal disk /sdcard. The PDF support (especially cropping fat-margined legal documents) of the default app is awesome.

I use Firefox rather than the system supplied browser, and I also haven't been using the system supplied reading app, but since the November update, my Kindle books have sometimes been disappearing from the device, requiring me to redownload them. Since I have not regularly used the Kindle app on other devices, I haven't been sure whether the problem is with the app or with the device.

Recently decided to try the library’s ebook system. Cloud library which they use, really isn’t very good. But since my library system isn’t so good it is not a big thing.

Standby battery life after these last few updates has been great. Haven’t had a chance to see how well it does for an all day reading yet as I have lots of company over.
