I wrote "entire thread" in a few places when I meant "entire first post" -
But I am glad you managed even with my mistakes. There are some languages pre-installed on the Kindles, either in full or as a partial install. But Python isn't one of them. ![]() Python is also used by the screen savers add-in, which is why it isn't bundled with LS. |

![]() Now LS works and it exports correctly all the collections but... when I try to import them into Calibre using Kindle Collections plugin some books remain without collection. I noted that these books are .kfx files that in Calibre are .azw3 (I downloaded them from Amazon Cloud to convert .kfx into .azw3 that is supported into Calibre...) Stefano |

That was recently fixed, at least in the repository copy of LS.
You will probably have to pull a copy from the repository, read up in this thread, somebody recently had to do that (within the past week or two). The link to the public repo should be in this thread's first post. OR - Just diff the current head of the public repo vs the point the last release was built - You will find only a couple of lines changed in two files - which you can make to those files you already have installed on the Kindle with a text editor. Now in both exported_collection.json and collection.json files there are all collections correctly associated also to the .kfx files on the device. I added the same books to Calibre using the .azw3 format (downloaded from Amazon cloud) and I associated them to the correct ebook in Calibre library using "Match book to library" function The problem is that when I use the Kindle Collections plug-in and "Import Kindle Collections to Calibre" function all these books remain without collections Do you know if Kindle Collections plugin correctly handles an .azw3 ebook in the Calibre Library connected (using "Match book to library") to the same ebook in the .kfx format stored on the Kindle? Thanks Stefano |

I don't use the combination myself.
Try sending a PM to eschwartz He uses that combination almost exclusively. (The actual author is away from the forum temporarily.) |

Has anyone been able to get LibrarianSync to work with a Kindle Oasis running 5.8.2.1? Mine won't launch it.

Hi, total noob here... I have jailbroken my KT2, installed KUAL, and THOUGHT I had installed python and librarian sync... but I don't seem to have done the last two correctly. Can anyone point me to some step by step instructions?
I just want to be able to use the kindle collections plugin on calibre! Thank you ![]() |

Solution for LibrarianSync on Oasis
Quote:
- Install kterm (search on Mobilereads for this), - Make sure you've installed Python. - Run kterm (from KUAL) - On the kterm command line, cd to the directory /mnt/us/extensions/librariansync - Run the following command: python generate_collections.py --update-calibre (or "python generate_collections.py --rebuild-calibre" if you want to rebuild instead of update). The program will complain about not having the correct screen area to write to (as we're not running the program from KUAL), but the cc.db database will still be updated correctly and you'll see your collections once you exit kterm (by typing "exit"). I guess there's an issue in running python from KUAL in the most recent OS versions. |

Just want to advise using a PW3, running 5.8.5.0.1 - the github version works fine.
Ran into the error of something went really wrong, but re-installing Python using the MR Installer fixed it. Quote:
Install the Helper and MR Package Installer by pasting the folders to the root dir of your Kindle. Paste the Python update bin into the MR installer folder. Run KUAL -> Helper -> Install MR Packages From the Github link (this is from the opening post), "Clone or Download" button, open it, get the 'librariansync' folder and paste it into /extensions on your Kindle. Enjoy! EDIT: If you did a dumb like me, for some reason, you have to be in airplane mode to update collections... Last edited by Kanzar; 11-05-2016 at 08:56 AM. |

OK, let's sum it up, this is what I found on Paperwhite 2, FW 5.8.5:
- there's an issue in running python (and some other code) from KUAL in the most recent OS versions (5.8.5 and up). - BUT - not everyone reports it, because when you run these scripts (Librarian Sync, parts of Screen Savers hack like "Process images in Staging directory" etc.) from KINDLET version of KUAL, they all work as expected. The only problem is BOOKLET KUAL version. |

How have you set up Calibre to send the collections to your Kindle? Which Kindle do you have? |

Collections not created on PW3
![]() Running LibrarianSync on PW3, firmware 5.8.7.0.1 with Caliber plugin. The creation of the collections from Caliber runs without errors and I can see a collections.json file created in the \system directory. However KUAL/Librarian sync/Update Collections (calibre plugin) or Rebuild collections (caliber plugin) never displays any progress nor are the collections (which are shown in the log from Caliber) ever created. Any clues to what I am missing or doing wrong? |
