I went again through all the posts and realized that at https://github.com/barsanuphe/librariansync, at the top of the thread you can actually find the librariansync folder. Then I downloaded it as a zip file and just unzip it into the extension folder of my devide.

Before I was getting frustated because I couldn´t find the folder, just the .bin file at https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=245691. I ws just getting confused with the folder thing and just finding a bin file.

Now everything is fine, librariansync is on the KOAL menu. Next step is trying to buid collection, but thats a different story.

Again, thanks a lot!
The easiest way (I am not a Calibre user) is to create a directory structure of the books under /documents that corresponds to the collections I want.

Then use the 'build from directory structure' command.

Well, I have done it with calibre (I was using it before buying the 3Pw) and it worked just fine and smooth. 31 collections, each an author, and no bugs (so far).

Again, thank you very much indeed for all the time and effort you guys put into the forum. You are a great help for newies like me.

Cheers

so if I understood all the above advice right, I have to download the folder from the link on the top of the github page, and then unzip it as is into extensions right? creating a subfolder named librariansync-master? or do I rename it to librariansync? and about the bin file (zipped v1.10 bin), install it as a MR package on top of it? Will try this and report back.

unzip the file but copy only the librariansync subfolder into the extensions folder of your kindle. That should be enough, no need to install the bin file (or at least, it wasn´t necessary for me).

Hello, LibrarianSync appears to be useful on my PW2 and Calibre after recently being able to jailbreak it. Is there an option to donate a few dollars in support of this plugin?
Cheers,
Steve

Nope -- most of the stuff posted here is developed by people in their free time and/or for personal use.

Some people do post e.g. Paypal links in case you want to support their efforts (several calibre plugin authors do this), and Ixtab's Kubrick LiveCD for repairing bricked Kindles has a link to the Laos Literacy project (his preferred form of thank-you)... but far more of the hacks here do not come with any such option.

So unless barsanuphe logs in and replies for himself, it is safe to assume that, for him, it is enough to know people find it useful.
A lot of the time, and for many people, that (knowing our contributions are valued and appreciated) is reward enough.

Glad you're finding it useful!
Like eschwartz said, it was developped mainly to scratch my own itch for my PW2. I've mostly moved on to Kobo devices since then, so I'm also thankful for other people here providing support to users having trouble.

If you have money burning your pocket, I'd be pleased if you donated to deserving organizations such as Doctors without Borders or the Pasteur Institute instead .

Hello barsanuphe,
I do find LibrarianSync very useful and it enhances my Kindle PW2 experience. It's a great plugin and I thank you for your generosity making it available to the community. An Aussie tenner has just found its way to Doctors without Borders. Cheers mate!

No worries eschwartz, thanks for your reply. It took awhile for me to successfully jailbreak my kindle (I'm not very tech skilled beyond the basics) and I only use the screensaver and LibraianSync plugins, but they do make a huge difference along with Calibre to the usefulness and enjoyment of the device. Thank you and everyone else who contributes. Much appreciated!

Librarian Sync 1.10 and jailbroken KPW2 with fw 5.8.2

Hallo and thanks for the Librarian Sync tool. It's great!

I tried it with my KPW2 jailbroken with the last FW 5.8.2. I installed it with "Install MR Packages" function and now I have correctly a KUAL entry called "Librarian Sync".

The problem is that when I click the "Export current collections" the "Exporting collections..." message appears in the left bottom corner of the screen but it remains for a long time. I wait for a lot of minutes but .... the message doesn't desappear..

There isn't an exported_collections.json file in the extensions folder..

Why? Can I help the developer with other tests? .... I am a young Java programmer but i don't know Python language... Where can I find the instructions or a tutorial to build a Python development environment to debug Librarian Sync code?

I would like to try to help the developer.... :-)

Thanks in advance

Stefano

Librarian Sync 1.10 and jailbroken KPW2 with fw 5.8.2

... no. I installed Librarian Sync using binary and MR Installer. I think that if I want to install Python on my kindle I need to follow the steps from https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=225030.

Can you confirm me or tell me the correct way? Is Python necessary to run Librarian Sync or I need Python on my Kindle to create an development environment?

Thanks

Stefano

You are the one who mentioned that LS was dependent on Python.
Of course, you might have just been quoting from the section: "What is Needed" in the first post.

Here is what you need to do in situations like this first:
This forum index page - the prefix filter drop down box, set to "tools" -
Click "show threads" -
Scroll down to NiLuJe's snapshots thread (sometimes its on the second page of the index) -
Go to that thread -
Browse the entire thread for what you need (in this case, Python).

If you can not find the most recent "<whatever>" in that thread's first post, then search for a thread on the subject you need.

and/or use the prefix filter to display only threads for your own device.
