Question LibrarianSync on Paperwhite 3

Hello,

I've installed the latest jailbreak on my new Kindle PW3, Kual, Kual+, Kual Helper, and Python (reported success and restarted UI with no error afterwards). Then I went on downloading the latest librariansync package (placed files from github under /extensions/librariansync, installed MR package 1.10 from this thread from the bin file in /mrpackages over KUAL) and I'm missing the corresponding KUAL menu entry.
Please explain a total noob, what am I missing here?

Thanks

You are missing specific details of what you did, what happened, and if it was as expected.

For instance:
"missing the corresponding KUAL menu entry" -
Corresponding to what?

the original post of this thread mentions a corresponding KUAL menu entry for LibrarianSync. Can't see it on my device after opening KUAL. Could you please write a step by step guide on how to do it from out-of-the-box Kindle PW3 to seeing the Librarian entry in KUAL?
What I did so far is the jailbreak, installed KUAL including Helper, and Kual+.
The KUAL menu:
KUAL+
- Sort menu 123
- x Quit
- Sort menu ABC
- Do not collate menus
- Purge menu cache
- Refresh Menu
- Replace Store button
- / (exit to upper level)
HELPER+
- Install MR Packages
- Begin grayed installer
- Prevent screensaver
- Allow screensaver
- Show network info
- Device ID (Reads Kindle Paperwhite 3 WiFi, Platform: Wario, Board Muscat rev. 3, Device code 0G1, Type Production, FW 5.8.2 (updated after jailbreak)

That's it. No LibrarianSync.

My root directory structure:
developer
documents
extensions
mkk
mrpackages
python
rp
system

inside /extensions:
helper
KUAL-add-ons
librariansync (copied from github)
mrinstaller
kual.cfg

Thanks

What is the structure and contents below the:
Code:
/extensions/librariansync
branch of the directory tree.

The:
"copied from github"
is not specific enough in this case.

sorry, the original post contains a packed 1.10 version of the MR bin package, did the install over KUAL with it, noticed no change, and then I tried to download the source files from github (https://github.com/barsanuphe/librariansync) and placed them under /extensions/librariansync

That does not tell me the structure of the directory tree because the "download from github" and the "copied from github" is not specific enough to tell me the exact directory structure and directory contents below: /extensions/librariansync.

If you got it correct, if you re-started KUAL to make it re-read the menu structure, you would see the menu entries.

If you didn't get it correct, or you are looking at a cached version of the KUAL menu, you will not see the menu entries.

Since you will not post the structure and contents below /extensions/librariansync . . .

You can check your own work against the things listed above yourself.

Lots of luck.

well, the link I've posted from github contains a file folder named librariansync, and I've replicated it and its contents exactly to the Kindle. do I need to copy the whole github thing, e.g. including the tools folder and the files below the two folders, to the extensions folder on my kindle? like I said I'm a total noob and (shamefully admit) I'm not very keen on looking through 19 pages per thread to piece together some easy step by step guide...not to mention this not being the only forum concerning various hacks to the (Grrr Amazon) very inconvenient way of hacking into the things to make them work somewhat comfortably
Sorry for that...

Just to make it easier for us to help you, please start using line breaks in your mind-dump, text blocks.

1) New information, not previously provided.

2) No

3) You install the *.bin file from the first post.
If it does not recognize your device, the steps to take are:
a) Check NiLuJe's snapshots thread for a newer version,
b) Ask here for someone to repackage it for you,
or
c) Repackage it yourself.

4) That is a good point, why don't you try those other forums.

= = = = =

Now that you have mentioned that you tried two different ways to install this add-in, the next question is:

Did you remove the directory structure below /extensions/librariansync in-between each installation attempt?

Have you re-boot the Kindle at anytime since first expecting the menu entries to change?

Also, please tell us **which** type of KUAL you are using, the kindlet or the booklet?
That might have something to do with missing menu entries.

Another question, in addition to those above:
What is the first six characters of your device's serial number?

Serial No. starts with G090 G105.

I started this whole exercise because Calibre doesn't communicate at all with PW3 when I wanted to add my own collections to the device.

The Jailbreak I've used is posted here:
http://www.ereader-palace.com/how-to...e-2016-method/

After that, I went on to http://www.ereader-palace.com/4-must...eaking-kindle/ and installed KUAL, the Helper and MRPI
The KUAL installer zip contains the Booklet bin v2.7, not the kindlet. and then used KUAL-KDK-2.0.azw2 to start up KUAL.

I've tried the Collections manager from ixtab (https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=186305), failed with "unsupported firmware"

Next I've installed the python package and librariansync as described already above. After a day of reading through walls of text and laboring fruitlessly I've just decided to spend an hour to manually create the collections I want on the device itself. Comparing both efforts, the hour long tapping on the kindle came out way ahead of this

My jb instructions tells you (section: Release Policy) to always get your installation packages first from NiLuJe's snapshot thread and then if not included, from the first post the the release thread.

Your copy of KUAL is three versions out of date.

Replace it.

Follow our directions here, get help from here -
Follow directions found off-site, get help from that off-site location.

Hi,

I hava a 3PW (G090 G105) and would be much grateful if you could help me with librariansync installation.

I have JB my device (Jailbreak-1.14.N-FW-5.x-hotfix.zip). Then, installed KUAL-v2.7.zip, kual-mrinstaller-1.6.N.zip, kual-helper-0.5.N.zip, kindle-linkss-0.24.N.zip and kyndle-python-0.14.N-pw2_kt2_pw3_koa_kt3.zip).

Then, I get lost. I have created the librariansync folder within documents folder and then saved there librar¡yansync-1.10.tar.gz or librar¡yansync-1.10.bin. restarted the kindle but nothing happened.

Then, saved librar¡ansync-1.10.bin into the mrpackages folder and gone into Helper+>Install MR Packages but, again, nothing. No librariuanSync entry into KOAL.

I know I have missed something, but cannot guess what. Can you please help me?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Get the most recent version of those package from here:
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=225030

Just re-install the packages, you do not have to un-install the old ones.

If you don't find something in that list, the version you have already installed is probably "good enough".

Post back here with what you have done.

And the librariansync directory is a sub-directory of /extensions not of /documents.

Please include a link to the set of directions you are following.
That will help us to find where the errors are in what you where told to do.

Hi knc1,

problem soved. Thanks a lot for your help!!!

I went again through all the posts and realized that at https://github.com/barsanuphe/librariansync, at the top of the thread you can actually find the librariansync folder. Then I downloaded it as a zip file and just unzip it into the extension folder of my devide.

Before I was getting frustated because I couldn´t find the folder, just the .bin file at https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=245691. I ws just getting confused with the folder thing and just finding a bin file.

Now everything is fine, librariansync is on the KOAL menu. Next step is trying to buid collection, but thats a different story.

Again, thanks a lot!
