If you have read any of the old, or the recent posts, you would know that this add-in requires special (in terms of Amazon Kindles) kernel modules to be built.

Which can not be done if we do not know what device / firmware version you are running.
AND
You must be happy with that combination, because nobody is going to rebuild this firmware for you, every time you update your Kindle.

So give us that information (Kindle model and firmware version) or keep on dreaming.

And I don't plan on updating the firmware ever again unless there's some ridiculously compelling reason. I have switched to Koreader full time

I'm having an issue getting this to work. I've first tried with a PW2 running 5.10.1.1 with a powered USB OTG cable and the OP's specified presenter, that didn't work.

Now I'm trying with a Kindle PaperWhite 3 (2015) WiFi, Serial G090 G105 with firmware 5.9.7 with kernel "Linux kindle 3.0.35-lab126 #2 PREEMPT Tue Jul 24 06:43:56 PDT 2018 armv7l GNU/Linux" and I still can't get it to work.

I believe the Kindle is jailbroken properly and Kindle Lazy is installed properly. When I use KindleLazy to flip the screen 180 that works.

Here is what I see in /var/log/messages when I start KindleLazy and unplug/plug my OTG cable with the USB presenter dongle attached.

I am using the default config.json file that came with KindleLazy.

I have KUAL, MRPI, Helper, and KindleLazy installed and that is all. The kindle has not been registered at all nor ever connected to wifi.

Update: I just noticed the side volume button the presenter does in fact change the brightness. So that works, but does not show up with evtest for some reason.

Note that this KindleLazy was an experimental project, built for the then current version of Kindle firmware. For one particular version of kindle. It is probably not being kept current by anybody, unless you yourself wish to take over the project.

So in other words, you don't have any ideas about what to troubleshoot next or what to examine or investigate. Thanks, but no thanks?

Hi Euditionastic,

I had the same issue, although I don't know if volume control was working.

I found I had to:
1. Turn off Kindle Lazy,
2. Plug in USB dongle,
3. Turn on Kindle Lazy.

Then it worked.

Anyway, I mainly came back to post to say thank you to everyone who wrote the software and who gives help on this forum. I finally got mine working just yesterday.

My recommendation to anyone else is to buy the exact same presenter as the original poster.

Hey there, thanks for your post. I have tried that every which way. Plugging in, not plugging in. stopping, starting, rebooting plugged in, rebooting not plugged in, etc. Can you tell me what firmware version you're running? So far I think I've seen it working up to 5.9.2. I know it depends on the kernel as well since it's a module, but I haven't figured out exactly which firmware version have which kernels. Thanks man!

Oh and I have the OP's presenter.

That's really close to 5.9.7. I bet this works, seeing as how my kindle is receiving all the correct commands using evtest. The kindle is in fact not registered, I've just been using the kindle guide book to test. Good points. I'll register it and load up a different book. Thank you

Yup, in this case, that is indeed a match.
The exact amount of information varies with the kernel version.
Some of the newer kernels support signed modules.

That extra "#2" in the uname output can be set by the builder, it might mean anything.
