Hello,
I successfully jailbreaked my Oasis2 (KOA2 9th gen). I did it with my Mac (MacOS Sequoia) for people who would wonder if it work with a Mac. After many many attempts with the normal method, I used the oneclick method and it worked directly. I should have started with this method which is so easier. Thank you @Marek for your amazing work. But I need some help: Now, Im stuck with a managed device. The first post tells to type ;demo but when I do that, yes it asks confirmation (everything is in English btw), I click yes, It reboots, but comes back in the same managed situation after reboot. EDIT: solved with a factory reset ! Now I've installed KUAL, python, librariansync, and the Kindle Collections plugin on my Calibre. Managing my collections has never been so easy and clean ![]() Last edited by Bilan; 10-03-2024 at 10:21 AM. |

I found in /usr/bin/dump-stack that you can drop and empty file called DISABLE_CORE_DUMP in the main visible root (/mnt/us/) to stop Kindle from making core dumps (KPPMain, powerd, cmd, and possible others).
As far as I understood, this JB method requires this specific file in in the system root (/PRE_GM_DEBUGGING_FEATURES_ENABLED__REMOVE_AT_GMC) to be present in order for JB to work. This, in turn, makes Kindle a dev test device. Therefore, stack is dumped upon several actions, most of them are actually regular actions. I tried it on Kindle Scribe, both on FW 5.16.2.0.1 and 5.16.21 (hardfloats, hf), and it worked both times. No more core dumps. Only occasional things I still get is from Indexer, it dumps some archive and summary of what was indexed in /mnt/us/documents. But at least these are a few hundred KBs, and not 200-300 MB that core dumps were used to be. Most of the times it is when I exit KOReader that was launched in "no framework" mode. This method is the least intrusive, and it doesn't seem to break anything big time. I can still browse Kindle store, read books, etc. |

I went through a process on Kindle Scribe / 5.16.2. Had some fail attempts on the way, lastly using both hotfixes helped to get surviving JB outside demo.
From KUAL: KOReader works just fine! I also ran BinaryRenamer to lock OTA Updates. The issue I have is: After a restart I see Quote:

Just bought a Kindle 11th gen (2024) (model RS23CV) and tried to jailbreak it but i think I goofed it. After the step 12 (following the github steps), the device rebooted and now it's bootlooping nonstop. It load the kindle logo with the boy on the tree, no loading bar, and restart. Have tried the "hold the power button for {insert amount here} seconds" and nothing happen. Right now I'm letting it drain the battery and see if something else happen.
Help? ![]() |

Nothing will happen after battery gets drained. Once you connect it to a charger if will just resume that never ending bootloop. Connect it to a computer via USB cable and check if between 2 restarts Kindle manages to export its storage. If it doesn't it's done for, nothing for you to do other than contact Amazon support and see if you can get a replacement unit.
That "killed by a reboot" happened already to bunch of people. It happened to me 2 times, both times were PW5s ( = Kindle Paperwhite 11th Gen). |

Also, as stated in the very title of the thread, this only works on firmware versions 5.16.2.1.1 and lower. Your new Kindle presumably shipped with version 5.17.0, which is not compatible with this jailbreak method. There is currently no working jailbreak for the newly released devices.
