I have jailbroked mi KOA2 (Kindle Oasis 9th) with EOL firmware.

I'm writing my experience for helping anyone could need this information.

In Post Jailbreak I have some minor issues. Mi kindle was in English but ;uzb command doesn't do the job. But, !demo and "side load content" do it perfectly and I could copy update_hotfix_languagebreak-{language you want to end up with}.bin. Then I could "Eject the device and either enter ;dsts" because I couldn't select the settings icon to enter the device settings menu (in grey).
Then I could continue with the rest until the end.

After finish the steps I had to copy another time the hotfix and flash it with the update option because, I didn't have the "mkk" folder.

Then install MRIP, KUAL(coplate with hotfix) and Koreader without problem, and with the terminal of koreader block the updates (renaming it's binaries).

Reinstalling hotfix will preserve your jailbreak.

Then you can downgrade the firware to a firmware version that you prefer.

You might also want to install and run the renameotabin package to prevent future updates.

anyway with 5.16.2.0.1 to create a fancy app launcher icon ? And anyway to switch between koreader and the kindle sceibes notebook features ? I.e. a task switcher type thing ?

You say the package I used wasn't the right one but being a PW3 with FW 5.16.2.1.1 but this is copied from the KUAL thread:

"First, download the latest KUAL archive from the Snapshots thread and unpack it. Then, if your device runs on FW 5.x, use the KUAL-KDK-2.0.azw2 file."

Wouldn't I assume that's the correct firmware to use or do I need KUAL-KDK-1.0.azw2?

Are you referring to the languagebreak hotfix? I'd put that in the root folder right?

All go like a charm in firmware 5.16.2.1.1, including the !uzb command doing the job, and no needing "Post post jailbreak" steps.

In one of de "log messages" of step 19 it was stuck and I have to reboot, but it wasn´t a problem.

A mistake, it was in "managed mode" and I,ve to do the post post jailbreak typing !demo. But all good.

Hello i need our help.

I make the JB on a kindle paperwhite signature with 5.16.2.1 everything fine all folder was there. After that the kindle was in the Managed mode i maked ;demo and the kindle restart now in the kindle there are no folder more why?
Is the jb there or not? I maked it now two times but everytime the same..

After that i installed again the hotfix with the language german but if i make ;log mrpi kindle says: Mrpi is not installed.. mkk and rp folder are there..

### Unregistered kindle
1. Enter `;demo` into the search bar
2. Press the right button
3. The device will say that its "entering demo", but will actually reset into normal mode in English
4. After this check if you have an mkk folder on your kindle - if it's missing reinstall then hotfix and have fun

### Registered kindle
1. Enter `;enter_demo` into the search bar
2. Reboot your device
3. The device will be in full demo mode so do the setup without wifi and with random values
4. Do the secret gesture to get into the kindle UI
5. Enter `;demo` into the search bar
6. Choose `Resell device` and press `Resell/Yes`
7. The device will actually reset into normal mode in English
4. After this check if you have an mkk folder on your kindle - if it's missing reinstall then hotfix and have fun

Just wanted to post that I’m having the damnedest time getting this to work on my Kindle PW4 running 5.16.2.1.1. Every time I ;enter_demo, reboot, and continue through the initial prompts to load demo content I get a crash. Once it comes up, ;demo and ;dsts don’t work, and I have to power cycle it before they will. Then I never manage to get the language selection screen.

Just wanted to follow up and say I got it figured out. I only saw the language prompt my first time through, missing Pseudot entry, and it didn’t switch to Chinese when I selected the language for some reason. I tried to install the hotfix anyways, but UYK wouldn’t work, and I did a factory reset. Looking back I was probably in Managed mode without realizing it, and so I kept trying to jailbreak an already jailbroken device that just needed the hotfixes reapplied. Hopefully this helps someone who comes along after me with the same problem.

I am unsure if my Kindle is now jailbroken. I ran into some issues that are detailed below but ultimately was able to install KUAL and can open KUAL on the Kindle. I think that means it is jailbroken? But I'm unsure. Thanks in advance for any guidance.



I get the error in the photo after clicking 'Done' in step 3. I don't remember getting this the very first time I did this. From what I remember after I clicked 'Done' it was just a blank screen for 30 seconds or so. But I don't specifically remember.

The first time I did this I had to do the 'Special Gesture' to unlock the device. Everytime since then, it does not have me do the 'Special Gesture'. It will just play the slide show for 10ish seconds then automatically unlock the device.

Regarding Steps 10-12. The first time I did this it showed the 'Press the Power Button' screen and I plugged my Kindle into the PC, copied the files again and chose to Overwrite All duplicate files. Ejected then unplugged device. I then held the power button down for at least a minute and a half or two minutes with no response from the device. I then let go of the power button and tried again and then it rebooted.

When I got to the language selection screen I chose Chinese and the device rebooted. I did see the log message in the corner on reboot. When it came back up the device was in English. This is where I deviated from the instructions as I thought something had gone wrong. In hindsight I probably should have continued following the instruction but I decided to try the whole process over at step 1. All other attempts have not shown this language selection screen. Nor do I see the log message. Now after I hold the power button the Kindle goes straight to the 'Home' Screen and I am no longer still in demo mode.

After trying a second time and experiencing the aformentioned deviations. I then tried factory resetting the Kindle and then tried from step 1 once more. This time after still experiencing the deviations I decided to just go ahead and continue with the steps.

Since it no longer will stay in demo mode after the 'Press the Power Button' step, I went ahead and tried installing the Hotfix anyway. It fails. I then went back into demo mode via ;enter_demo and tried installing the Hotfix that way. I appeared to install successfully. Screen displayed the update success screen and upon reboot the bottom of the display showed a ***MKK KEYS*** message. When the Kindle finished booting I am no longer in demo mode. I check for the 'mkk' folder that should be in the root directory but it is not there.

However, since the Hotfix appeared to install fine I tried installing KUAL. This appears to have installed correctly which I assume means the jailbreak worked, right? I also installed KOReader to the Kindle and I can see it in KUAL. However, KOReader won't load when I click it.
