"75% of the time my computer would not recognize it. never had that problem before." - this I also had a few times, weirdly it was telling me that the charging port has moisture. I thought it was just an accident.

So then if step 15 is not done quickly enough you will know because "P s e u d o t" will not be an option.
Then you just run step 15 again until you do it fast enough and then move on? |

1) The very first time I was quick enough: Tapped Resell - got ready with the cable to insert - hit Yes - waited until power button screen shows up - plugged in the cable FAST - copied the files FAST - safe eject - unplug the cable. Here Kindle screen was dormant, I waited about a minute to make sure it stays off. Then I turned in on by pressing power button until the screen lightly lit up . Then without any lengthy progress bar screens I saw the language selection menu and the "Pseudot" language. I clicked Chinese above it (Simplified), then hit OK to proceed. Kindle started to reboot, showed up the screen with progress bar and the boy under the tree. Then on that screen in the upper left corners the was a lengthy tiny-font log saying that JB was succesful. 2) Another time, I missed it by taking to long to plug in the cable after Resell/Yes - I plugged in, copied files, but before I safely ejected, Kindle screen lit up and started boot. It then rebooted to non-language screen selection, but to the screen where it asks to login to Amazon (the last thing I was doing in regular mode). So I had to re-do it again. |

So I installed jailbreak, and have `;log mrpi` working, but I tried to install KUAL a few times from both normal and booklet/coplate installer, both don't work, I put KUAL-KDK-2.0 into documents but it doesn't show KUAL document. Could anyone help?
More info: I copy KUAL install hotfix bin into `/mrpackages` folder. Run `;log mrpi` It does Hush baby Then few operations really quick Then destroys bin and restart of UI Can't find KUAL. My previous PW was PW2 so I might be out of loop what I'm missing... No logs in /extensions/MRInstaller so if you know what I need to enable, I'm open to suggestions. Also tried (and KUALBooklet install hotfix bin same issue). (PW5, 11gen, 5.16.2.1.1) Last edited by Dexmaster; 11-24-2023 at 11:40 PM. |

OK RUNME.sh with basic start koreader code below and running `;log runme` works...
Code:
#!/bin/sh /bin/sh /mnt/us/koreader/koreader.sh |

Did you install both JB hotfixes? One in the end of LanguageBreak, another is from NiLuJe.
Where did you get KUAL packages? I used ones in NiLuJe’s Snapshots thread: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=225030 You need KUAL (coplate). Try putting install.bin and hotfix.bin (both in KUAL coplate archive) at the same time in mrpackages, then do ;log mrpi. |

Also, if you just need KOReader, try this Booklet:
https://github.com/yparitcher/KUAL_B...eases/tag/V1.4 Install the 1.3.6 one - this one is usual start. 1.4.2 is for no framework start. (Also, don’t forget to run renameOTAbin package to prevent updates) |

It is a measure to preserve more RAM before lanuching KOReader.
Needed only in extreme cases like heavy PDF files (100 MB per file+). |

Hi all,
Looking to possibly purchase a scribe in the Black Friday sales. Looks like the jailbreak possibly will work out for me too by reading this thread. It looks like there are some differing instructions to use for the scribe from what I can see. Is there a definitive post I should follow or is the first post the best still? Look forward to hearing from you. Regards, |

First things first: Kindle Scribe needs to be manufactured earlier than Aug 30 when non-Jailbreakable FW 5.16.3 (week 35 of 2023, so the third four-character group in the serial number needs to be 3-35-X or smaller)

Here's how to recover your Jailbreak if you accidentally did an update.
Short story: I bought a Kindle, I Jaibreak it, I then activated WiFi thinking that the Jailbreak would cut the automatic updates, it was my big mistake! Amazon upgraded me to 5.16.4 without asking for confirmation. Nothing was working anymore, exept that I still had the "**** JAILBREAK ****" message at startup. Here's how I got the jailbreak to work again (based on mergen3107 11-22-2023 #484 method) Download NiLuJe's K5 Jailbreak package here Extract emergency-bridge-recovery.zip edit emergency.sh At the end of the file you should find those lines: Code:
# Bye sync mntroot ro Code:
# Patch version VER=336034 cp /etc/version.txt /mnt/us/version.txt.backup sed -i -E "1 s/(-)([0-9]+)$/\1${VER}/g" "/etc/version.txt" Code:
bridge.conf bridge.sh emergency.sh RUNME.sh Now you can downgrade the firmware to the version that works well for Jailbreak, the Kindle will accept the previous firmware. One downgraded your system is a little bit messy, you should still have some feature from the last upgrade, so apply a factory reset. I did it once again to clear out things (upgrade again to the same version, then factory reset)! Not sure this was necessary! You now have a brand-new system, ready to be Jailbreaked again! |
