I am trying everything to avoid this update screen, because it looks like it is going to update straight to 5.16.5. I was just looking around of what I can do.

have you not managed to remove the update.bin.partial fiel?

I did, but then it starts downloading again

have you limited your connection speed?

Yes, I tried between 1 and 128 KB/s Upload and Download speed.
Lower than 32 KB/s it many times complaints about the network. 64 and 128 KB/s work, the update file is being downloaded accordingly slow.

I am able to do factory reset with a file. Was even able to put 5.16.2.0.1 update file before registration - it doesn't help, the forced update screen is still mandatory.

I "connected" to the Wi-Fi Hotspot that requires login. Kindle showed as if it connected to Wi-Fi, then opened Web Browser. I "searched" for ;enter_demo in the Browser address bar, then restarted Kindle by long press. Then I was in the Demo mode!

Now trying to install JB...

JB steps successful! I was able to select Chinese Simplified above the "P s e u d o t" language. I've seen a bunch of logs (took video + photo), with "Jailbreak successsful" in the very end.

However I am in Demo again. I'll go follow the troublishooting then

JB installed! Hotfix (Marek) and Hotfix (NiLuJe) installed - apparently from Demo mode.

I then did "enter demo" by searching for ;demo. However, now I have JB installed, but I still didn't make it past that force update screen

Once back from demo, I was greeted with usual sign-in. I limited network connection and signed-in. It still tried to download the update first.

I turned off the network hotspot.

Is there a way I can bypass this stupid screen (oobe - out of box experience) now that I have JB?

Go through with the update and downgrade afterwards, i don't know enough about oobe to help you otherwise sorry

Will the hotfix and JB survive? I thought it was strictly against going ANY higher than 5.16.2 ?

I am on 5.16.2.0.1 now, so any next update is incompatible with JB.

No, jb does not survive 5.16.3 and higher.

Meanwhile I went back to demo mode, installed KUAL, USBNet, enabled OTAbins.

I’ll setup USBnet to see how things are doing…
