@developers: Is there any Lua-based possibility (something like local pagetext = CREReader:getPageText(page_number)) to get the plain text of the displayed page (or, in the worst case, a whole document) for text-based files like epub, mobi, fb2, etc.? Any ideas or suggestions?

@NuPogodi: I think there are means in crengine, but I don't think that there is a Lua interface for it yet.

Thanks for your answer. Well, I know that it is probably the least important thing, but nevertheless... could you (or your colleagues) eventually look for such a possibility (the same is generally requested for text-based pdfs). Why? I've just thought to implement autoscrolling feature that has not too much sense without information about the displayed page (length). And even more... Once the displayed page text is available from lua-scripts, one could also try to use preinstalled TTS-engines for voice-reading.

The muPDF and the djvulibre engines already have such a feature, it is needed to implement highlighting (eventually, commenting etc.). So expect it to be present at some point.

Do you have experiences on how the TTS engine interfaces with the framework?

As the rough alternative for crengine-based docs, i can try to implement autoscrolling feature with the refresh time estimated, as the first approximation, from the font size.

Not at all. But I've used standard os-function
Quote:
function say(text)
os.execute("say " .. "\"" .. text .. "\"")
end
to replace, for example, yours showInfoMsgWithDelay(any_text,delay_ms,1) by say(any_text). And it works properly. Well, i know, i know... it's not enough to run the reading process, one has also to control the time point when it disappears from the running processes and, then, to feed the next text portion (and probably to display next page).

Not yet, I think. Wouldn't be too hard to implement... I'll take that as a suggestion :-)

You can always do screen snapshots with an external utility (like "dd" called from launchpad).

There are built-in keycodes to take a snapshot. I think it is Alt+G on the K3. It also refreshes the screen with a full-flash update. Of course, if you app grabs the keyboard and does not pass that key combo through to the framework, that will now work...

Is there an option to increase contrast like in the kindle viewer? Would be great for a lot of my djvu files since they are usually a bit faint.

yay, cool!
Before this viewer reading heavy on graphic documents and especially comics was hell (mainly because of absence of navigation in cbz mode. I was even making stamps on the images with page numbers). But this is something! Converting djvus were really big pain in the ass, it is like a dream come true ;_)
I have another suggestion! in viewing cbz (and maybe other formats)files it would be great if one can save original page within archive to some folder to later view it in computer or something.. It is can be useful for example if image is in color or very detailed so you can later watch it in original resolution or post it somewhere without having to review the whole document on computer later.
__
paning in cbz with dxg is taking too small steps (without shift and alt) and joystic in some zoom option don't work at all.
Actual resolution zoom option?

actually, it is alt + shift + G.
But what if the program is started without the native framework (to free more memory)?
