My last prediction of the firmware update was that it will not in 2010. I now suspect that it is most likely no more update as they have too many models and too many problems to handle by the same team. Nowadays, even the sales team's active participation in this english forum is considerably reduced.

I too fully agree for the idea of an exchange offer / discount if we return and buy new reader from PB.
Otherwise, I consider this PB302 experience as a good lesson for me from buying a PB product.

I paid an extra $100 or so for my 302 (up here in Canada) over the competitors devices for the promised keyboard/working basic web browser....

Leaves me feeling fairly frustrated.

On the bright side, this bitterness has remained fresh through the Notion Ink Adam release...and I remembered during my change to buy how I'd been burned on this device. My new mantra: "Stop being an early adopter" ... and this time I think it might actually work. (I'm glad I waited and didn't pre-buy an Adam - though I have hopes it will get sorted as the software is refined...I really do want to get a tablet with a Pixel Qi screen).

That makes two of us. And probably a few more. I paid about $100 more than a comparable Sony because of the WiFi and browser. The wifi's pretty much useless without apps and the browser is almost worthless. Unless things improve soon, I will never buy another pocketbook. I like my PB 302 better than my Pandigital Novel and use it for all of my reading. But next time I'm getting a much more polished product. For a lot less money.

I think you will have to do more than making this statement to regain some trust from the Pocketbook 302 owners. You will have to put more pressure on the R&D department to deliver:
  • A hard date when the beta of the new firmware will be available;
  • A hard date when the final version will be available;
  • A roadmap on which features will be available in the coming firmware and which features are planned for future updates (including delivery dates).

I no longer want their update. If they want to keep me as a Pocketbook reader, they will have to come up with something else. I would accept an exchange against the successor of the PB360 (value of which should be at least 100$ below the purchase price I paid for my bPB302).
But I guess their silence speaks. Isn't it time for a specific (threatening and warning) thread on this matter?

Is there a successor to the PB360?

It's been sighted at the FCC. Nate-the-great's blog had a note on it.
Expected to be a 5-in WiFi model called the PB501.
Only a crude general sketch was attached to the FCC docs that leaked.

Sounds cool. I have put my PB360 to bed for a while as I now use my iPad almost exclusively, but I still prefer FB2 and when I do a long trip (i.e. EU to Australia) the PB360 comes into its own for battery life, etc. I look forward to seeing this 501 when released.

I'm currently putting my IQ through its paces and it's surprisingly readable outdoors (but only in the shade, of course) and one thing I've learned to appreciate is OPDS support. There are hints that PB will be looking to add it to their connected readers which, if it comes to pass, would add real value to the wifi feature.

My biggest fear about the 501 is that it will lose the 360's signature ergonomics and cover and be simply a size-reduced 601.

When updated to the latest firmware (15.3) for Pocketbook 301+, the pdfviewer is not working any more. The adobeviewer is the only option left for pdf file.

Thank you for your post, I thought I somehow messed up my extensions.cfg file - good to know I'm not the only one experiencing this issue. No big deal for me as I read almost exclusively epub files (which the 360 handles flawlessly) but recently I did recommend the 360 to a friend who has a lot of pdf files - thankfully her reader came with the 14.2 firmware which works correctly. I guess a downgrade might be in order for me...

Please, Pocketbook - don't leave us in the dust and finally release a non-beta working 15.3 firmware.

Thanks, GeoffC! :-)

I've been reading the forum for nearly a year and that was indeed my first post. Bit of a weak introduction considering the topic but still - I absolutely love my PB360 (convinced even the wife to get one for herself) and would be very sad to see such an excellent device being abandoned.

You can download the pdfviewer from http://multi-up.com/337312 (mentioned in http://www.the-ebook.org/forum/viewt...=asc&start=260). It might be from 14.2 but I installed it and it works on my 15.3 firmware.
