I'm student and like to have something like a simple flashcard-application for learning. I've got some ideas how this program has to work but I'm really a poor programer (physics is my subject...).

a) It must be possible to create the card-set with a simple editor at the computer. Until now I'm using the LaTeX-package "Kartei", which is a german alternative to "flashcards". This creates flashcards with questions on the odd and answers on the even pages. So it's easily possible to split the whole document into the single cards.
b) You need a rating for the cards, so that the learned ones appear at less frequency than the difficult ones.
c) And a shuffle function.
d) Because I'm studying physics, it has to work with equations. -> PDF would be nice.

I don't know, how many of your customers were students but this could really be a killer-feature for the PocketBook (like DjVu still is) in this group.
In the Pocketbook Apps contest last year one of the submissions was Memorum:
"Memorum
Application that helps to learn foreign languages. It allows to learn words by using cards with a word and its translation. There are three modes: learning, self-checking and testing. It also contains a calendar which allows you to plan definite cards on definite days."

The App and the source code are available for free download.

http://pocketbook-free.sourceforge.net/en/index.shtml

There is also an editor to create cards called MCL_Editor

Will it work on a 302, or is it one of the <many> apps that only work fully on a 360?

Also - in the firmware, is the big round button usable (on the 302) within fbreader180 as the next page button?

Yes, I have it mapped to "next page", which is perfect for landscape mode - left or right handed.

The last version I am using (15.3) seems to be pretty stable on my reader.

I'm using 15.3, too and it's perfect. I haven't had a spontaneous reboot, crash or freeze since I installed it a couple of weeks ago.

Having said that, I don't think they've *officially* released it yet, have they?

I'd definitely recommend installing it. It's much better than 15.2.

But is it better than 14.2?

For me, absolutely! 14.2 froze for me four times in the 3-ish weeks I was using it. 15.2 has not crashed, frozen, or rebooted itself one time. At all.

Having said that, I don't use AbobeReader (or whatever it's called) at all. I use FBReader 100% of the time.

Someone mentioned something about adding fonts being wonky, but I'm not sure if that's still the case or not, I haven't tried because I've already got the font I prefer to read with installed.

Seem to depend on the user - for me, 14.2 on the PB360 has been absolutely outstanding! I have had two freezes/resets since Dec 2009, and no other problems at all.

Again, I really only use FBReader, so if you need ADE then eprhaps the newer version in 15.3 is better.

I haven't been able to give so much leisure use as before, since I'm using my reader for class purposes (reading PDF's, mainly), but it hasn't crashed once since I used the latest 15.3 beta.

The only annoyances: the disappearance of PDFViewer, which I can't find anywhere in the new firmware, and the fact that the G-sensor ceases to work after opening a PDF file. Fortunately AdobeViewer works very well for PDF's, but I've always prefered PDFViewer.

I've just installed 15.3 a few hours ago. Went like a breeze, it took like 30 seconds to install. Works ok so far.

When you can abondon pdfviewer and extra installed fonts from your own, i can say it is more stable as 14.2 firmware. Ecspecialy for adobe-reader.This one is more reliable as before. But as firmware 15.3b is only a beta, it will be probably fixed with the final release. In addition in 14.2 you can´t use different user settings for the pocketbook.
