Strange. I haven't had any problems with the last two versions of 15.2.
I use mostly cleanlook theme and the last version of third party FBReader. My books are in various formats. trf, txt, epub, html, even pdf. |

First, I have to retract my words where I said "you'd have to pay me to try 15.2 again." I'm trying it again and no one has paid me. What can I say, I'm a geek who likes tinkering...
![]() This version of 15.2 that was posted a few posts up is the best one I've tried so far. I read a library PDF and a library ePub book (both with DRM) with only one kicked-me-out-back-to-main-menu instance. That's great, actually, considering that the same thing would happen with version 14.2 - but more often. So, that's better. Then, I've been reading my own books (ePubs). The reader has frozen twice (requiring re-booting via a paperclip) and has tossed me out to the front page once. The freezing times happened 1) after turning on (it wouldn't) and 2) unlocking after a key-lock press. Funny though, now that I'm typing this - I don't remember that stuff happening in the past two days. I flashed my PB360 on 30 July (downloaded the .zip file right after Forkosigan's posting of it). So, that little bit of "bad" in the past 4 days isn't that bad (especially when 1/2 of the trouble occurs with library DRM'd books - and had been happening with 14.2). In other words, I'm gonna keep 15.2 (and now crossing my fingers in case I jinx myself). I LIKE the double-press action to get back to the main menu and I am truly glad to get it back. I still eagerly await the advent of 15.3 - mainly for better Adobe DRM support but also so I can quit carrying around a paperclip ... just in case. ![]() Oh, and one last thing. My thanks again to all the people who work on/with Global Pocketbook to keep updating, upgrading and fixing the Pocketbook software. This kind of support (and constant upgrading) is one of the best parts about the Pocketbook line. ![]() Marilyn |

Okay, at this point I'm starting to wonder:
Has the PB360 hardware been slipstreamed at all? A different memory chip, display controller, something? Because for me 14.2 never crashed and neither has the previous 15.2. I have *lots* of installed fonts, themes, dictionaries and a few games, and I use both the Hacked-ADE and FBReader180. And I've used two different SD cards (8GB & 16GB with no issues there, either.) The only issue I have is the loose screw that's started rattling around lately... Mine dates to last November. I know Marilyn got hers in the spring... Anybody with an older PB360 having issues? |

I've had 2 "lockups" during startup with the newest posted 15.2. I recently set my PB360 to save the last page at shutdown, and to resume reading from the last page at startup. When I started up the PB360 these 2 times, the screen stayed blank and the green power light stayed on, but nothing was drawn.
Since I didn't have a paperclip handy either time, I removed the battery for a second and then plugged it back in. When I flipped the PB360 back over to its front, it had loaded the 'last page' image and was booting successfully. This same behavior (pulling out the battery, replacing it, and finding that the PB360 then started booting) happened both times. Hope that helps... |

That's an interesting thought. I got mine in March and have had problems with ALL firmware versions, including the supposedly very stable 14.2. In the first 3 weeks I had my PB360 it froze and needed the reset button pushed no less than five times. It never rebooted itself, though. That's an issue that started with 15.2. |

I shouldn't have written that. Immediately after posting I experienced two crashes ;-) I opened pdf book I was reding previously with no issues. I Opened it on page cca. 400/500. I havwe read about 6 pages and the reader has restarted spontaneously. After restart I have opened book again paged to most recent page and continued reding several more pages. Thr device restarted again. I wwas again taken to the point where I started reading that day, paged to last read page and continued without further incident. |

I gave up on the latest just way too many reboots and a few freezes. I actually moved all the way back to 14.2 this time. Haven't been on 14.2 in a long time. I'll enjoy some stability for a while before I start tinkering.

I've been running 14.2 since Dec 2009 (when I got the PB360) - haven't had a problem at all.
Only 2-3 freezes that I can remember, and I think I was messing around with config, connecting/disconnecting it to the computer, etc. So I may have triggered the freezes a little, experimenting. All freezes resolved by simply removing the batt cover and pushing the reset. I have never had a crash/freeze just reading a book on 14.2 - I read mainly FB2 format with the wrist-turn FBReader mod installed, no other changes to config, etc. I keep all my books on a micro-SD, and I eject it to update books and so on. When doing this I first power down the device (push and hold power button) then remove the card, connect it to the computer and update books, then re-insert the card in the device. Then I power the device back on. It usually doesn't read the 4GB SanDisk card at first, but once booted I press the OK button to select "Books" and the device automatically reboots and reads the card the second time - this is a known issue with these SD cards, so I just live with it. As far as I'm concerned, the PB360 has behaved flawlessly on 14.2 - at least as flawlessly as any other device on the market, better than most! Since reading of the many problems people had trialing the 15.1 firmware, and now the issues with 15.2 stability, I am sticking with 14.2 - I really don't need any new features at all, so why mess with it if it aint broke?! ![]() |

As a newbie to the pocketbook devices, it strikes me that a separate thread for firmware for the 360/301/302 would make sense (unless they are completely interchangeable).
While some messages mention the device being used, many here refer to 14.2 or 15.2 (though not which version of those even) without specifying a device which, I suspect might lead to confusion by some (including myself). It was mentioned earlier (I think in this thread) that having clearing identification of versions of firmware AND the applications available for the device would be helpful. I'd like to second that proposal, while also asking for more clarity about which version of which app is for or works on each device. It was frustrating when I loaded up a few of those game apps to try, only to realize that it requires controls only available on another device (360 for example). This led to a more frustrating (and time-consuming) converting dictionaries for my 302 (since the version of the conversion software I'd downloaded was out-of-date, but no version numbers let me know that). |

I just found something weird on 15.2.
When I left PB360 on my desk to do something, it got a reboot by itself without my action. (no pressing any buttons) |
