Well, thats explains it then.
Maybe I didn't express myself clearly enough (english is a foreign language for me after all).
I wanted to make the whole progress bar wider and bigger, not just the marker lines.
I see the same problem as you.
Its not clear enough and there is wasted space as wide margins around it.
I tried to fiddle with the rest of the values but nothing tangible came out of it.

Well, you're right.
Maybe FBReader's looks cleaner because its 'fatter' (and has less chapters too ;o).

Heh, I sometimes have the minibar eating what's under the baseline of the last line, so, yeah, not really seeing much wasted space here either .

Well, if you check the attached snapshot, you will see that the progress bar occupies only 1/3 of the space that the minibar takes from the screen.
There is also some horizontal margin (more on the right side).

@embryo: Oh, right, just got what you meant. Basically, make the bar as 'tall'/thick as the font used for the battery/page info.

EDIT: play with bar_height in frontend/apps/reader/modules/readerfooter.lua, and see what works for you.

Thats it!
The screenshot has the value of 15 (on a Glo).
Much easier on the eye, takes up the same screen estate...

Btw, Embryo, have you tried the next chapter marker in the mini bar?
DMINIBAR_NEXT_CHAPTER = true
The markers in the progress bar are nice, but to see how much I have left in the actual chapter this one is better!

I was trying to free up some horizontal space.
I turned it up again but I took some characters out, using readerfooter.lua, to make the total info part more narrow.
This is the final setup ...

@embryo: You'll be able to tweak the dimensions of the minibar through the defaults.lua in the next nightly .

Good news!
Since you're there, can you throw the "rectcolor = 10" as well, so I can leave the progresswidget.lua unedited.
I use the value of 5 as default.

And more good news, I'm nearly done with an editor for the defaults.lua settings, so this can be done "live" soon...

Does this applies to the defaults.persistent.lua file?

It reades both defaults.lua and defaults.persistent.lua and writes differences from defaults.lua back to defaults.persistent.lua (will be created if not existent)

Another question.
As you can see here, the left and right margins are not zero, although I have DCREREADER_CONFIG_MARGIN_SIZES_SMALL = {0, 0, 0, 0} and use the small margins.
At the history file of the book says:
Code:
["copt_page_margins"] = {
		[1] = 0,
		[2] = 0,
		[3] = 0,
		[4] = 0
as expected.
The same book displays OK (no margins) with Coolreader.
Is there somewhere else I could change that?
