Hi,
on my Kobo AuraHD I find, that the settings I have made for font size and scroll bars in cr3.ini have no effect any more (in version 2015.05). I've follwed the instructions I found here here: http://wiki.vlasovsoft.net/doku.php?id=en:coolreader. Any idea??

Angry

I have also been trying coolreader on my H2O, but was very dissatisfied.
Neither does coolreader remember the settings made for a specific book to apply to the next one, nor does the integrated dictionary display the stardict dictionary in a readable way (stripped from html tags).
I returned to the stock readers using the patches to be found here.

Sorry. The approach was changed.

See docs (User interface fonts, font sizes, etc) for details:

@maida:
I think it takes a little time to get familiar with cr3. But the benefits are obvious. You can load tons of book via usb network in seconds, no time consuming, unstable database is required. The page setting options are much better (for me) than on the stock reader. It never crashes and does not track my reading behaviour....
@sergeyvl12
thx for quick reply

There is a sample eink.qss at
http://forum.vlasovsoft.net/download/file.php?id=88
and a discussion at
http://forum.vlasovsoft.net/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=399

For another data point, I have coolreader installed on my H2o, and it works great.

Edit: fixed link.

eink.qss is a great idea and works well in most cases. The only thing I could not get working is changing font size for the recent books window. But all in all it's a real improvement and makes things clearer.

Hey everyone,
I can't change menu font (like "dejavu sans" to anything else) via eink.qss. It just doesnt respond to my changes and always remains the same. Tried every possible 'name' for it, single and double quotes - just doesnt work for me. Font's present and available in CR settings. (.adds/vlasovsoft/fonts, using KSM btw)

I've installed CoolReader (or better the menu launcher with Chess, Sudoko & all) again in my Kobo Aqua as I was annoyed by the fact that it did not read .rtf correctly! Now the book that suddenly stopped with the Kobo reader is perfectly readable, it has a real TOC and in the first pages I have images that was not shown! Fantastic!

I have noticed that CoolReader cannot read neither PDF neither CBZ/CBR it is not possible to add the support for them? Or add specifics readers for these formats?
There is a file manager application but it seems I cannot open book with it could be an interesting compromise to use this application to open the books that Cool Reader cannot read using the default Kobo reader will this be possible?

In this way I can avoid to see the ugly Kobo interface and always use a file manager with the book orderered as I like and not randomly

Another thing how to create an hidden directory so Kobo does not process my books?

You should name folder like .name, with a dot at first position. It'll make Kobo default app not index them.

To make the hidden folder using windows explorer, you just name the folder with a dot/period both before and after the name (.Library.) and the trailing dot will disappear leaving the name you want (.Library).

Luck;

Header clipped with H20

So, all we need is to replace

exec cr3/cr3 -stylesheet $STYLESHEET

with

exec cr3/cr3 -stylesheet $STYLESHEET -geometry 1070x1417+4+17

for H2O

it also allows to set any custom margins for other Kobo readers for CR.

hi Sergyvl

I'm using 2015.05 version of coolreader on my Kobo Aura H20..When I apply the above change to the cr3.sh, it does fix the clipped header, but it also disables the screen refresh setting?

Any ideas on this?

Thanks,
JFeole

You gotta update your CoolReader to latest version (dated May, 24) and apply this instead of what you did before.

Quote:
2. Kobo Aura H2O. Fixed "out of border" issue. To apply the fix you should put margin_top=N (N measured in pixels) parameter into cr3/cr3.ini (NOT cr3/data/cr3.ini!). With that full refresh parameter is respected by CR.

I saw that note in the coolreader forums...can you or anyone else show me a working example of how this would look in the cr3.ini file??

He has it listed as " 2. Kobo Aura H2O. Fixed "out of border" issue. To apply the fix you should put margin_top=N (N measured in pixels) parameter into cr3/cr3.ini"
-
I tried:
-
margin_top=10px
-

it didn't work?

Is this the correct syntax, or am I mis-reading?

Thank You,
JFeole
