Hi, I read this forum since June and now I have enter on it as active user.

I am from Italy and I hava an Aura HD (fw 2.8.1) that I use only for reading PDF with KoReader (the native reader is too limited and bugged with PDF).

I have used the the earlier version from Giorgio130 with good result and since some weeks I am using nightly's version since koreader-nightly-20130824

But these versions (I have tried all versions until the last 494) have a serious bug.
Landscape PDF not work anymore.

Sometime koreader crashes immediately, other times after some pages turned or when menus are requested.

Crash log reports "segmentation fault"

Thanks for the report. We can reproduce this, it manifests since (and may be caused by? But the dates don't fit...) a major re-implementation of graphics blitting. It will probably get fixed by me over the next few hours.

Hi vlad59, I'm really interested in testing by a touch owner. I'm not sure the current implementation of touch input is right for the touch. It could have x and y coordinates swapped... Moreover I've never been able to reproduce the "unresponsive screen" issue, and I assume this is caused by the swapped coordinates I mentioned before, but I could be wrong. If you're willing to make some other tests, I'd like to know what happens with latest nightlies if you touch the right edge of the screen, or even other parts of it.

I don't know if it is already present on Koreader, but an usefull function would be a configurable layout reading mode like the one present on Orion DjVu and PDF Viewer for Android.

It is very usefull to read pdf documents printed with many pages to one (i.e. 4 pages per page) layout

I tried the latest nightly build (494 v.3) on my Mini (copying the 494 nuild "koreader" directory onto the existing one, which was build 397) and had problems, with the reader asking me to register again, etc., so went back to 397.

I have 494 on now to, and yesterday I had to copyover the "KoboReader.sqlite" file with the one I keep on my PC, with the "user" zeroed out. I had to do that because the file on my AuraHD had the user section missing. This made it so Nickel wouldn't let me use my device until I registered, also. So, it could be that we are seeing something in the current build, somehow causing a corruption of the Nickel database.

It is working now.

Luck;
Ken

These corruptions simply should not happen. Just to understand better: Do they happen due to *installation* or due to *use* of koreader? I guess it's the latter, so most probably, Nickel doesn't react properly to it being shut down.

In my case it was installation that caused the problem - I never got to start koreader, and my device database was messed up big time.

In my case with my AuraHD everything seemed to be working in Koreader, reading an .epub (I think it was one on a newly created hidden folder on my internal uSD card) and then after having gone to Nickel and powering off, it was not used for about 11 hours. When I tried to start it up again I got the Welcome to Kobo message and the requirement to register the device. My database having a zeroed out User, shouldn't have been asking me that, so I checked the database file in SQLite Browser and the User section was missing, much of the rest of the database looked normal, but I didn't examine it that closely. With my backup database it has been working as expected for most of yesterday and came on, after poweroff overnight, just now.

Luck;
Ken

But I thought that the recent builds removed the Killall Nickel?
I just checked koreader_kobo.sh and there is no killing of anything. It also shows a crash.log to be at mnt/onboard but none there now, so the loading of the Koreader didn't produce a recordable error, In fact I don't remember any problem at that point.

I am attempting installation of the Step 1 hack now...wish me luck. At least I know I put the right thing in the right folder, this time.

Ok, it installed. And the text display is terrible, all my formatting, gone. Nothing like Koreader on the Kindle. Now how do I get OUT of the koreader app?

Poke the "F" in File Manager normally, if you have put the current build on over the one from the 1 Step Hack. If you just left it as the 1 Step Hack, then the -X- in the upper right corner might work, or you can reboot or power off.

Thanks, I had to restart it. What are the un-install instructions? I don't see them on the front page.

I don't know why, but since I put that on, then restarted, the Kobo has been acting weird. First of all, all these kobo books tiles showed up with download arrows. Second of all, any kepub I tried to open, I got a blank page, then kicked back out to the home screen with the book marked "finished." epubs would open.

Suspend?

so how does one get suspend to work on the latest build? I tried koreader-cgm.zip on the latest nightly koreader-kobo-arm-linux-gnueabihf-v2013.03-502-gf16c9e1.zip but it just reboots after loading koreader.

You can remove the files and folders that were added, koreader, KoboLauncher, & fmon.

It sounds like your Kobo Database is corrupted. You could go to "Account" in the Settings menu and "Sign out", this should let you reauthorize and rebuild the database.

Was suspend to be in this build? I don't remember it being mentioned at Github.

Luck;

Do you have Koreader working on the Glo? Others are having trouble with getting it to work on that device.
