ok, but what I'm missing is browsing ebooks by authors, seeing thumbnails of the books etc. pp. My wife does not want to select by filenames...

The chance of "Bricking" your device installing these additional programs is very small, as very little of the original software is touched at all. In fact all these programs are launched from a working device running its normal software. Both CoolReader and Koreader use File Managers. Both are able to see "Hidden" folders so you can hide your ebooks from the Kobo software's processing (often the source of problems, and can be very time consuming). You can build your file structure in any way you wish. Sergey's Coolreader port has user configurable tap zones and you can define actions for long tap, double tap, ect... Giorgio's Koreader port defaults to right side tap for page forward and uses swipes as well. You need to get to know any of the readers before you can establish which you like better. None of the additional readers come with any real manual or documentation and there is not that much for the features of the Kobo software. Most of the discussion of the alternative readers takes place here in the "Kobo Developer's Corner". There are a number of us here who will answer any questions you may develop. Luck; Ken |

OK, then I've simply to try to install them and see with my eyes
![]() Regarding the thing of Thumbnails I'm asking myself if a compromise could be done, it not possible to show the books as icons? The icon image being the book cover? I think epub support attributes or if it is not usually the cover is in the ebook itself on the first page... The ideal thing would be to have a File Manager as separated application, so one could have icons and maybe have the possibility to choose to open a file with a given application for example PDF con Kobo readear, EPUB with CoolReader, RTF with Koreader, CBZ with whatever... Is there a way to start CoolReader separately from Nickel?
I put coolreader.png into the root directory, created coolreader.sh in the fmon folder, pointing to the KoboLauncherN_coolreader.sh in the KoboLauncher folder. That last one was copy of KoboLauncherN.sh, where I replaced $ROOT/launcher with $ROOT/cr3/cr3. And reboot after all. Coolreader started, but rotated 90 degrees and lacking some menu commands and backlight button. Is it possible to run full-featured CoolReader with its own png? Anyway, great program - thank you, Sergey! |

OK I've installed the launcher successfully but something should be wrong!
The text is too little and I cannot resize it! The same files are opened correctly by the internal software... It give me size 32 and I cannot change it, I don't see a slide or I cannot insert numbers... it is possible it is not recognize correctly the Aura HD? Or I'm seeing in the wrong point? |

I have both running on my AuraHD without this problem. For Coolreader with the book open, in the dropdown menu select "Settings">Styles>Size and you should have two boxes in the lower right corner, the one with < in it reduces the size and the one with > in it increases the size. There is a sample for you to see the effect of your settings. When you have it as you wish poke the OK button on the bottom right. For Koreader with the book open tap the bottom of the screen to bring up the bottom menu. The font size setting is pretty obvious. If you wish to change the font it is under the second tab of the top menu. Luck; Ken Last edited by Ken Maltby; 12-10-2013 at 12:15 AM. |

![]() Regarding Cool Reader is possible to set to use justification instead of hyphenation? I prefer to have a little of space lost that have all those hyphenations (?)... Thanks! |

I can't get the < decrease button to work for Coolreader font size adjustments. I think the problem is that it is too close to the corner, it would probably work if the buttons were moved to the right some. The IR touchscreen has always been flaky in the corners.
