@roger64: Battery reports on Kobos tend to get stuck at 96%~97% for quite a while, probably when the charging logic switches to trickle charging and/or just plain stops charging to avoid an overcharge.
Rebooting nickel or the device sometimes makes it magically jump to 100%. As does plugging/unplugging. That, or the phases of the moon and/or wind speed and direction ^^. TL;DR: Still not convinced anything's actually going wrong here ![]() (That's not to say that a clear indication of when the battery actually appears to be charging in KOReader is a bad idea, because it isn't ![]() Last edited by NiLuJe; 09-09-2015 at 11:55 AM. |

In any case: https://github.com/koreader/koreader/pull/1630
As for the wonky stalls/jumps to 100%, as @tshering confirmed, that's on HW quirks; the battery percentage in KOReader's top menu is always refreshed on demand. If you want a pretty lightning bolt icon, enable CRe's full top statusbar, it has a graphic battery meter that switches to a lightning bolt when charging. Personally, I like knowing the exact charge, even when charging, so I went with a simple '+' prefix when charging instead of switching the percentage value to a simple "Charging" string. Thanks you all for your help, explanations and improvements.
I understand now that I can use a wall charger with my Kobo Glo equally with Nickel, KSM or Koreader, the difference between them being only about reporting. I did the same test with KSM 07 (battery level 96%) and I got some more information than with Koreader because there is a refresh button* which allows the user to update the information about the battery without having to reboot: 1. - when plugging the charger, a tap on refresh tells me that the battery is now charging (the previous status was discharging) 2. - when unplugging the charger after about 45 minutes, a tap on refresh tells me that the battery capacity reached again 100% (maybe this level was reached before, I don't know) * KSM 07 - tools/checkbatteryautorefresh.sh Edit: I will resume the same test with Koreader later on, when the level of my battery will be much more depleted (20, 30% left?) so as to make unprobable any "wonky jump" which could put in doubt its results for this reason. I have telnet access to the Kobo. Is there any way from the console to interact/debug Koreader's running Lua state? Print variables, etc?

The "+" works fine and is a good indicator that the charger and cable are properly connected and working. This is a reassurance that we didn't have before. We used to have to take it on faith that the charging was underway whenever the cable was connected.
An indication of 97% during the charging of a Li-ion battery, most likely means the actual charging has been stopped and the charging circuit is testing the charge and will report 100% soon. Luck; Ken |

Any chance of allowing a long tap on a word in the dictionary window, to look up that word in the dictionary? This works in nickel's dictionary.
It is very handy for definitions that say nothing but point to a variant, or to lookup synonyms. |

Hi
The new + sign which tells us the battery is now charging on Koreader will be helpful. I also found the use of the "refresh" button on KSM 07 (as described above) to be quite convenient. I will resume testing as soon as the level of my battery falls under 40% so as to eliminate the possibility of any borderline effect (like "testing the charge"). Now it's 56%... ![]() I will also count the number of pages turns needed before getting a refresh of the battery indicator. |

It would have been handy if the dictionary result window wasn't dismissed, when the "Input Lookup Word" window pops up, so you could see the definition as you entered the new word. Luck; Ken |

Hello! First thank you very much for koreader. It works great.
I have a favour to ask of you. Usually when I read a book and find something interesting or new, I make screenshots of that page. After finishing a book, I have at least 10-15 pages saved. Sometimes it is difficult to find necessary page from the screenshots folder, in other words I’m not absolutely sure from which book I made a screenshot. So, could you add an option, which displays the name of file/book on the screen? If you do so, the screenshot will be saved with the name of the file/book and it will be easy to define which book it belongs. Thank you so much! |

Well, bug is, at least in my a bit older version (271) that when I turn off embedded style, that's fine. But, after that, when I try to turn it on again, koreader stops working and I'm back to KSM. It happens every time. Maybe newer koreader versions has this corrected, but I just reported to be sure. |

Unrelated: Is there any way to get Wifi to auto-start, either with Koreader, or with KSM? |
