Hi all,
my KoboGlo dies also....
after starting -> critical error
after seeting to factory -> connecting to pc -> critical error

please could i have the sd card image also?

If you are getting problems after the factory reset, you might want to try a new SD card.

The image is for a 2GB card. This is what is speced in the Glo and while some have 4GB cards they were still only partitioned to use 2GB. The book partition can be resized to take advantage of the card after the image has been restored.

Goodday to you all,

I got my hands yesterday on a defunct koboglo which turned out to be the internal sd card that had stopped working. I've got a new sd card now and tried it with the android firmware that is already available online, but have come to the conclusion that I really just want the same kobo firmware again.

Could anyone be so kind as to send me the original image file? (N613 model)

Good morning or evening

My Kobo Glo (4yo) suddenly decided to "Restore" this afternoon.
As it had been doing it for a while and I got afraid thinking it was stuck, so I tried to reset it by pushing the button below (as the button on the upper side to turn it off was broken from overuse).

And since that moment the screen is blank I tried to connect it to my laptop and charge it but screen stays blank with the green light working as if it was resetting.

My theories are that 1) I made the wrong decision but trying to reset it or 2) it blocked when restoring (the screen worked but moments before it went into restoring).

So concretely I think I need (since I'm quite inexperienced) :
- a new image to rewrite on my SD card
- and if you know a post that explains methodically for beginners how to do that, would be great (I'm looking for one at the same time )

- Oh and is there a way I can, I don't know, ... Keep my books or retrieve them from the SD and after put them back once I get my kobo working again, that would be tremendous !

To say I'd be forever grateful is not exagerated, my Kobo doesn't leave my side ever and I am very attached to it.

You might be able to recover by doing a factory reset. That has the advantage of not opening the device, but you will lose everything. If recovering the books is important, you will need to open the device and remove the card and put that in a PC. If you use a Mac or a Linux machine, you should be able to mount the data partition and get the books. Windows doesn't like removable cards with multiple partitions and I don't know how to use it to get at the books.

Memory Upgrade Mod Guide has instructions that you can use to open the device and restore the image.
