At this point, if you have done factory reset using the buttons properly, then it should be working.

And check that the screen is plugged in properly. You might have bumped it when you had it apart.

I Think I have a hardware issue. As a last chance I will try a motherboard reflow (with oven).

Yesssss !!!!
It worked ! after cooking the motherboard (alone, without SD !) in the kitchen oven, the Kobo glo is now perfectly running again !

Temp profile I used :
cold start, wait 10mn at 100°C, ramp up to 220°C then stay there for 4mn and gently cool down ~ half an hour.

Good to hear that worked. I wonder what needed the reflow.

And I frequently suggest at this point to get a cup/glass of your favourite drink, find a comfortable chair and read. But, in this case, I think you need your favourite item from a bakery

Hi new to this forum. Would anyone be kind enough to pm me a link to SD card Image for a Kobo Glo N613. I have one that is bricked. When viewing card the root partition appears almost empty (7% used of 256Mb).

Can I get a link to the image as well? I want to try fixing the broken power switch on my Glo, but it looks like I decided to completely remove the internal SD card after I broke the power switch.

David; I *might* need the link myself. My Glo developed an issue in the last few days.

Last attachment to the PC was Feb 22. When I tried last night it told me "USB Device not recognized".

It charges like a champ; reads like a champ; just won't connect to the PC. (And yes... WiFi works too; just don't have telnet enabled lol.)

I'll probably try opening it up this weekend, backing up the SD card and then try either a factory reset, or, installing a brand new SD card with the new image.

Luckily I still have unread content on it

You have tried deleting the USB drivers? And reboots everywhere?

Nod; Nod. Even tried different PCs (and different ports and different cables).

I could try a factory reset I suppose but if it doesn't work, I'd end up with a device with no sideloaded content at all!

If a factory reset does not yield the wished-for result, you can still open your device and risk damage to the power slider. Things are of course different if there is no copy of your "unread content" available and is important to you.

I will grab a new SD card first and install to it. Luckily I've only been reading a few books since the last backup / sync so that's not too big a deal.

Ah well. Bought a new SD card (8GB was the smallest I could find), restored the image to it (after patching the serial #), resized the Kobo partition, let it go through setup (two updates installed) and then tried to connect via USB. Exact same issue.

Must have had one too many drops to the floor of late

So reckon I will just keep reading all the content I have on it, keep track manually as to what I have finished, and then watch out for a sale either on the Aura, or one of the new devices.

I'd kept thinking of late when I saw the sales on for the Aura that I should take advantage of them, but never did

Or I could just watch out for a used Glo for sale on Kijiji.

At least I have an 8GB card I could use....

Just don't get the custom shelving.
