^ I agree, but seems to be a loss they're willing to shoulder.

Though I'd argue that if the lower price was only thanks to a coupon, we could have an even better deal if they'd matched the price upfront in the first place.

Well, I received my price match. Now to figure out how the amount makes sense.

Original Kobo price: 7.99
Original Kobo total: 8.75 (after 9.5% tax)
Reported lower price: 6.99
Refund amount: 2.64

Hm. I would've expected $1.095 back for the base difference (adjusted for tax), plus $0.875 back as the extra 10%, for a total of $1.97, but clearly they didn't do that. Instead, it looks like they applied the price match to my post-tax total instead of the pre-tax price: $8.75 minus $6.99 plus $0.875 equals $2.635, which rounds to $2.64.

That's... interesting.

The UK does price matching? I didn't know that. Not that I'll be buying from Kobo for a while - I have too many Amazon credits.

If I do end up with some spare budget this year, the price match does mean Kobo's likely to be my first choice.

I think none, although I haven't tried. Amazon doesn't have a New Zealand store and doesn't price in New Zealand dollars, and the T&C's don't allow price matching against foreign currency.

Yes: Kobo, Google, and Apple all have New Zealand stores and price in New Zealand dollars.

There are also some small local sellers but they tend to be either storefronts for Kobo, or speciality outlets selling books by New Zealand authors or other special interest books.

The US one was organized by genre, at least from what I could tell. Amazon used to do this back in the day where if you ordered two or three paperbacks, they did another for free? Or half off? I used it a couple of times but mostly to get the free shipping.

I twice submitted a price match on Saturday and just received my credit refunds.

#1 Kobo price $9.89 - $5.00 new acct promo credit = $4.89
Amazon price is $2.50.
Credit received $2.88. ($4.89 - $2.50 = $2.39 + $0.49 = $2.88)
So I paid $2.01 and lost my $5 promo credit.

#2 Kobo $10.69 - $7.48 (70% off "miss you" code) = $3.21
Amazon price $8.28.
Credit received $4.75.
I can't figure out how they came to that amount.

Classic Kobo, none of the contest codes seem to work right now (tested on scholastic and smashword books - which should work).

I did send in a ticket letting them know, but contest players may want to hold off on mass coupon creating until they get this fixed.
