And I know it wasn't there before because I've always used Paypal and I've only had that particular card for a month and haven't used it online before.

This is actually exactly what I am saying - that it stored my husband's credit card from Visa Checkout, so that it looks like a "regular" credit card, as if just entered directly by him (or me ).

yeah that happened to me when they had the visa checkout deal with canada. annoyed me, since to me visa checkout's point is to not have many vendors saving your credit info.

so i deleted the info and went back to using gift cards.

I got the Visa checkout credit with no problems. I already had a $5 credit on this account for opening a new account and I bought a book for less than $5. I chose Visa checkout and went through the setup. I wasn't sure if I would get the $10 credit since I didn't spend any actual money but the next morning, there it was. I was really pleased to be able to buy an expensive non-couponable book for free.

I also noticed that my credit card is now stored in Kobo so I will be removing that and going back to PayPal.

Question about Visa and Kobo for travelling customers:

If one had a US account but a credit card based in say Tigana () does Kobo still accept the payment or does it not accept a foreign credit card?

Just wondering because of the Visa checkout offer... Thanks

Kobo sending non working codes? My birthday is tomorrow and for the 3rd year in a row Kobo sent me a 20% off discount code (single use) for my birthday that did not work! And for the 3rd year in a row I've emailed them and gotten no response. Anybody else getting non working codes from them or is it just me? The books I tried to buy were all eligible for discount codes (tried it with 3 different books and it just did not work on any of them). Very frustrating!

Check the first post--there is a code there that may work for 10 percent off? In some countries, some of the time. We think. Check through that post. I think it was perkopolis, but I don't know if it is still working.

Oh, that is too bad. I know there was some talk that it had expired or only worked in Canada. This is the thread to follow. If we see any more deals, we will post them! Sometimes the best thing to do is open an account and hope for a five dollar credit or do a visa checkout purchase to get a 10 dollar credit. That's not much of a discount, but it seems to be the one they are running now.

With kobo, though, you never know what the promos will be--or when! Or how long they will work.
