I wonder if they gave out same code to more than one person - that would explain some of the higher codes not working before the end of the competition.

To me, the issue that could get them into trouble with some jurisdictions, is ending the contest early. If I understood the rules correctly, you needed to answer all questions in the contest in order to qualify for the grand prize. By ending the contest early, some customers never had the chance for the last question.

Ahh, this last Contest the rules said that each game you played was an entry into the Grand Prize draw. I noted the change and meant to post it here.

So, they've prepared themselves for their programming problems.

And it's odd that they don't ever mention giving the grand prize away. Maybe there isn't any.

Some people at MobileRead have won one of the daily prizes in the competition. I'm sure that kobo do award the grand prizes. But I agree that it's surprising that they don't do more publicity about awarding the prizes.

I have my doubts (about the awarding of prizes). In the previous contest I asked them multiple times why the contest ended early and what happened to the prizes and thier only response was "the contest has ended".

I hate to write this because it makes me sick to admit to it. On June 22 (my bday) I got an email saying I won the grand prize and I had 48 hours to respond. I didn't see the email until Jun 27. I emailed them and they said it was too late. So, they do award the grand prizes I guess. But June 22...that was a while after the prior contest closed.

I have won 2 H2O Kobo's through the contest and I know of someone else who has also won twice. Someone else posted here last year that they won the big cash prize and received it.
Its by no means a smooth road getting the prizes out of Kobo but perseverance pays off and you do get them. Eventually.

Has anyone received the promised $5 for opening a new Kobo account? My sister signed up and the promotion indicated the credit would be delivered to her within (iirc) 30 minutes of doing so. Except that it hasn't. Is this promotion for real?
