I wish Kobo would give us codes available for any book we choose. They never have anything in the selected books for me. I just delete the emails now.

The 50%, 75% and 90% codes in the first post are for any couponable book. But perhaps you've used them all? (They are one-time only.)

I wouldn't expect a multi-use 50%+ coupon to happen more than once a year, if that.

I have used them all It's just almost every week I get an email with a code only for selected books. It's a bit annoying. I would turn off emails but I don't want to miss that one code that maybe I can use.

Because many of the codes are now provided and paid for by authors/publishers, there will be less codes for any book. Kobo does still do an occasional code, but they also limit the number of books we can include in a given promo. This is similar to how Amazon used to pay for the promos early on--they would discount, but take the hit. Now the publisher/author can do a discount, but they pay for it. It's just part of the business cycle.

Kobo sent me a 50% off VIP membership coupon code, but when I tried to use it this past weekend, it didn't work. So I didn't buy the VIP.
I do not understand why and how they can continue to send out non-working coupon codes.

Was the offer time sensitive or locked by region?

It was time sensitive, but I did it the day before the supposed expiry.
Not sure if it was locked by region, but since they sent it directly to my email that my Kobo account is registered with, I can't imagine that the code would have been for another region.
I'm in Canada, bought and registered my Kobo in Canada, so I can't see any reason why a code shouldn't work.

I've never tried price matching at Kobo, but there's a Amazon Kindle deal-of-the-day that I'm interested in. Will it be considered the same ISBN, does Kobo match Amazon?

They do, but because it's a deal of the day, by the time they look at it, it might not be that price--so you'd better go after it early have a screen shot of the price or something. That one may be too short of a deal for them to match. Who knows!

Can anyone explain how Kobo Superpoints are calculated?

Kobo have a 5X points offer this weekend, but only if you spend £15. I have just over £11's worth of books in my basket (the last one I want is out on Monday, the last day that qualifies) and according to the checkout the £11 is worth 367 points (at 2X) but on the explanation page it says Superpoint members get 400 points for every £10 spent.

I'm a bit confused why an £11 order is showing as less than the 400 points a £10 order is due.

Tbh I'm not sure points are worth collecting even at 5X

I can't really help for certain, but I know that there are some books that SOMETIMES count for 5x. So it's not just the total in your basket. For example, I was asked to submit a single title for 5x for this weekend. The price of that book is not the caveat here (if I understand it, usually the cost of a book helps determine exactly how many points are given). So some of the books in your basket may be worth more points. The one I submitted will yield 5x, but if you bought two of my books (for example) only the one would be 5x. It's sort of like coupons--the coupons only work on some books and the 5x is only going to be from a certain list.

My explanation may not help because I'm not sure I understand it all that well either. And sometimes what they SAY is not how it works.

I have actually found the points more useful than I expected. I earned them faster than I thought I would even though I don't do anything special when it comes to shopping.

Good luck and if I made it more confusing...sorry. That's all I know!

for trying. The 367 is the 2X total, it just contradicts what Kobo say in their own explanation.

I doubt I'll bother, I hadn't planned to buy those books any time soon. I have hundreds to read anyway

In the terms and conditions for this weekend's promotion it says that the 5x bonus super points will be awarded 7-10 days after the end of the promotion. I guess this is to allow time for any price matches to be accounted for. This is the same as other super points promotions where a minimum spend was required to qualify.

Also, the super points are calculated on the pre-tax value. So if you spend £11 including 20% VAT then the super points are calculated on the £9.17 pre-tax value.

That makes sense and would explain why its 367 points and not 400.

Thanks again.
