Is there an easy way to identify which books are eligible for promo codes? I've never found anything interesting whenever I have received a VIP discount code and visit the list of books, so if there are other books the codes would work on as well, I am very interested!

edit: whoops; guess I should have searched before asking!

Hmm.... I've found a site that seems to be offering a Kobo UK £20 gift card for just £13.26.

https://www.g2a.com/rakuten-kobo-egi...10000255662026

That's about a 33% discount. It seems a bit too good to be true. Has anyone tried it?

Hmmmm2... of a £15 gift card for £8.79. That's a 41% discount! NB that price is only if you add the £20 to your cart, and then add the £15 one from the cart page of the shop. Complicated!

https://www.g2a.com/rakuten-kobo-egi...10000255662025

I think I can risk £8.79.

Well, I risked £8.98 (a purchase fee was added), got a gift card link, used it, and applied credit to my account. Unfortunately, I forgot to note what I had on my account before, so I made a note now, and went to do it all again. (The balance was certainly a lot higher than I expected, so something got added.)

My credit before using the second link I bought was £72.64. Afterwards it was £95.01, an increase of £22.37!

When I used the link, the card that was displayed (which I thought was just a placeholder) was a $30 card. I must admit that £22.37 looks a lot like $30 converted to sterling.

Conclusion: for £8.98, I got £22.37 of Kobo credit.

I'm not sure how this is possible, but it's too good to pass up. There was a mention of Black Friday. But an astonishing result.

OK, the £15 gift card at discount seems to be the best deal - the £20 gift card also buys a $30 gift card. (Unfortunately, I didn't find this out before I bought five of them.)

I have now bought £119.44 worth of Kobo Gift cards, redeemed them at Kobo, and my Kobo credit balance is now £268.38 higher than it was an hour ago...

That's a massive 55% discount.

That should keep me in ebooks until next Black Friday!

(And if I'd bought only the £15 gift vouchers, I would have spent only £106.24, for a 60% discount.)

It seems to have all gone completely smoothly and legitimately. The gift vouchers are delivered as URLs for the Kobo web site that allow you to apply the credit to your account.

Wow! If I change the offer to “For CAD Currency Only”, it only costs $55 CAD to buy $50 worth of Kobo credit!

Did the more favourable GBP one work out?

edit: I see your new posts— wow! Interesting, I will have to look at this more closely. If you can apply GBP to your Kobo account then you should be able to switch currencies and spend it in whichever Kobo region you want, as usual.

I can only buy five at a time, but using the trick of: add a 20GBP gift card to cart, use that to add the discounted 15GBP cards to cart, then remove 20GBP card from card; I also have the option to add some 10GBP gift cards. While not as good a deal as the 15GBP ones, they're still very good and a way to spend more than I'm allowed buying 5 cards at a time. I wonder if I can buy the 15GBP times five more than once? (In multiple transactions perhaps?) If so then I suppose that I can skip the 10GBP ones.

I found that the price was wildly different for the different values. I only bought cards that said that they could be applied to a UK account.

The very cheap gift cards seems to be from a seller "Gamersurus"

Yes, if I switch to Canadian Dollars and gift cards for Canadian account, there are no good offers. And none bering sold by "Gamersurus"

Perhaps this one is only good for UK people.

I'm trying this out. I bought the 15GBP cards from “Gamersurus”. I was charged in USD but paid in CAD (my credit card provider converts the currency for me). My Kobo gift balance is $0.00 before redeeming any of these. Hold onta ya butts…

Update: First card redeemed. It seems to be a $30 USD gift card. After redeeming it, my gift balance is $41.36 CAD. I paid ~$82 CAD for 5×£15 which means about $16.40 per card. Holy cow, it works.

You can buy more than 5 at once - the multiple drop-down scrolls.

But I also I had no trouble buying my cards in multiple transactions.

As I said - I don't know if these cards will work on accounts other than UK accounts.

If you're not in the UK, I'd buy just one first and see how it goes

All done, and for ~$82 CAD spent my Kobo account is now $206.78 CAD richer. Quick test: …yes. I can just go straight back to Gamersurus and buy more of the exact same thing. The limit of 5 is per order, but you can just place another order. (edit: I appear to have missed pdurrant's comment above that the drop-down scrolls, and you can in fact buy more than 5 at a time. )

I am, frankly, flabbergasted. Thank you for the share that's still hard to believe, even with the credit sitting in my Kobo account.
