When I think "current time" (for reading), I would be satisfied with an update when the minute changes; doesn't sound very power consuming to me.

How about providing the user with some options? Wait, options, what am I thinking?

Understood. But they still remove it far too quickly.

I'd like to adjust the delay up a bit...
Or have it always display both time and date, but maybe erase the time instead of updating it or something.

Exactly. I just want to see the time to the minute. Just so I know at a glance if I really need to put my book down and go to sleep.

Update time with page changes, and update/erase/strike-out after 1-5 minutes is probably the most anyone would need.

I think that a most useful update would be about endnotes, either by jumping directly to it (or even better, by displaying this sole note in a small window) by using the hyperlink in the text.

For some books it would be VERY useful. Best example in my mind: Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, with a lot of endnotes that the reader can't just ignore.

Convert the book to a kepub, as the kepub reader already does this.

I already use a Calibre plugin to auto convert .epub to .kepub.epub when i copy them to my Glo HD, but in this specific book at least (I have not tried others yet) when I click on a note number on the text, the number gets hilighted... and then nothing else. Or is it a way to do it i don't understand?

(I tried opening the file on my Glo HD via Calibre, and then it works perfectly. My dream would be an alternative software reader based on Calibre )

I haven't seen that. That suggests there is a problem in the book that the conversion makes worse. Open it in the calibre editor and check for errors.

While, the calibre viewer is good, it isn't a good way to check a book. It is very forgiving for errors in epubs. The Kobo renderers are not. Especially the RMSDK epub renderer.

But, a port of it to the ereaders would be an interesting idea. Unfortunately, there is no way to separate it from the rest of calibre.

After screen broke on Kobo Touch, I bought Kindle keyboard (3), turn screen 4 ways & English dic. with any file. UTF-8 text files OK. No translators or typing of letters + accents. 1 needs to convert HTML files.
After Kobo up-date, still was not right, so gave up on them!

What does buying a Kindle have to do with Kobo firmware?

I think the o/p is saying he gave up on Kobo and gained lots of extra functionality in his kindle.

This is a firmware feature request thread. "Kobo Suxx0rz!" is not really an appropriate comment in this thread.

I hope they bring back the indicator when searching for specific words in a book is completed. It's now hard to gauge whether the device is done searching or it's still in the process.

I have seen very interesting and useful features requests in this thread but I have never seen anything implemented in new kobo firmware.

Does anybody have an idea why?

I believe Kobo is a real competitor for Kindle but It seems there is no much willingness to compete (at software level) recently. That's a pity.

I'd like to request an inverse color Night Mode on the Glo HD without having to resort to 3rd party hacks, as clever as they are. Absolutely love that feature for full darkness reading because the 1% light is much brighter than my old Voyage.
