I think I would like a "page background". An image that simulates paper tone variations and defects. Maybe in 3 levels : side shade only - paperback - old book.

Next you'll want one that periodically pumps out the smell of mould, sour decaying glue, dust, bedbugs, and someone else's pipe tobacco.

The way I see it, if anyone wants to simulate a pBook in the way the paper looks, just read a pBook. Sure you can simulate for formatting and even the font, but when you get down to that level of simulation, go read a pBook.

Could you - please - please - please - stop reset my lecture progress to 1% - currently reading when I reopen a book I read in the past?

If the book had been read and marked as finished, then opening it at the beginning (which shows as 1% progress) is the proper behaviour. (And I hope that doesn't change, it would be a right pain if it opened at the end.)
If the book has been read and not yet marked as finished, then it should open at its current position. If it forgets its current position and opens at the beginning instead then that could indicate a corrupt database. (Edit: or a faulty book.) Last edited by GeoffR; 10-21-2015 at 01:15 PM. How is it supposed to know the difference between opening a finished book to check something or opening it to reread the book? Or the times you reopen a book to check some detail, but end up rereading it. For this sort of thing, there has to be a decision made in the design of the application on what to do. Kobo made it in a fashion you don't like. From a usability point of view, I believe this way works better. Reopening the book is treated as starting to read it. If that isn't what is happening, you mark it as finished when you close the book. Otherwise, you would need some other mechanism to indicate the reread. |
