Hello Mr. DNSB, my girlfriend has a Kobo Aura Edition 2. I accidentally installed the Kobo Mini update on it, and the device crashed at the bootloader screen. I removed the SD card and want to burn a fresh image onto the device. Do you think this is possible? I would appreciate it if you could send me a message, thank you very much. <3 :yardım:

Below are the required steps to restore Kobo aura N514 :

1. Charge the KOBO AURA during more than 2 hours. If battery is HS, change it before doing this reinstall procedure!
2. Download the image SD aura H2O given by PM
3. Unzip the Kobo_Aura_H2O.zip file
4. In this file the image is named Kobo_Aura_H2O.img
5. Download the program USB Duplicator Image Writer.exe
6. Insert a SD card in your computer (my SD card was 2Go capacity)
7. Execute USB Duplicator Image Writer.exe
8. Select the Select source for the image (Kobo_Aura_H2O.img)
9. Select the destination drive for the image (SD Card of minimum 2Go total capacity)
10. Start the processus...
11. When processus finished eject properly the SD card from you computer
12. Shut down the Kobo N514 (slide the top button to the right and maintain it in this position : When led is totally off then kobo aura has shut down).
13. With N514 fully charged and connected to power supply (it's really important because if Aura shuts down during the processus you will have to do it again !) insert SD card in aura
14. Press simultaneusely Light button + Slide the power button to the right
15. A message on the screen explain that the restore is in progress
16. After few minutes you are invited to connect Kobo with wifi or Kobo desktop (in my case the first possibility failed so I have connect my computer to the Kobo AURA vi USB and launched kobo registration following the software steps / the popup used to do this operation was hidden by the main software page).
17. After registration please eject property the USB cable from your computer
18. Restoration process will continue (In my case the screen will finish this operation with strange vertical lines)
19. Final step : the Kobo Aura restarts and is fully operational ! You can remove the SD card. Enjoy reading !

I can confirm the Kobo aura N514 works with the N250 Aura H2O image. I followed the procedure above and had some slight differences:

- When booting up from the external SD card by holding the light button and power button, it is essential to keep the power button "on" for a second or so, otherwise the reader still tries to boot from the corrupt internal memory.

- When booted up from the SD card, no restore process started. It showed my books that were on the internal memory. When trying to do a factory reset, it would boot from the internal memory and hang.

- I downloaded the most recent firmware files for the N514 and put them in the .kobo folder in the internal memory, the partition that's shown when you connect the reader via USB to the computer. Since I was connected to the reader via UART and had a linux shell, I copied them manually to the /mnt/onboard internal disk, but I guess it should also work via USB.

- After a restart from the SD card, it recognized the new firmware files and initiated an update. It wiped all user data and started as a new reader.

- Everything works perfectly again. Thanks for the image!

I would like the firmware image for a Kobo Libra 2.

My current kobo has been in a bricked situation twice already. First, it presented with a constantly white screen, but blinking LED

Then, after buying a new card and copying the disk image of the old SD to the new one, it is stuck on a "software update" screen (the one with a picture of a power button and a line across for it, probably means "do not power off")

If your device is booting to the GUI, you have placed the KoboRoot.tgz and the manifest.md5sum files along with the upgrade directory from the upgrade .zip file into the .kobo directory and the upgrade does not happen, you may want to remove the µSD card from your N236, create an image from it and then image a new µSD card from that image. The instructions in the Memory Upgrade Mod Guide (With Pictures) thread should help with doing so.

Note that the µSD card images tend to have older firmware from when the image was created.
