Okay, here comes the latest round of updates
![]() USBNet now bundles lddtree/scanelf, because the lack of an ldd script has always been bugging me (ProTip: You can also steal an ldd script from a random TC, and switch the bash shebang to zsh, that'll work, too). Various stuff has been updated across the board. ---- But the most impactful change is a series of bridge updates: the ;log command *will* now be bridged. Various parts of the bridge system have also been tweaked/hardened. As such, I *strongly* recommend that *everyone* update their bridge ASAP (run the "bridge" bin from the JB package through MRPI). ---- A quirk of the non-coplate KUAL booklet packaging has also been resolved: both hotfix & mrpi variants will now refuse to install on Zelda & Rex (since those are >= 5.9, where there's few chances of this variant actually working). [Previously, only the hotfix was packaged as such, which was confusing]. Last edited by NiLuJe; 03-10-2020 at 12:40 PM. |

Also, friendly reminder that the clock is ticking on Python 2.
When the final 2.7 release comes out at the end of April, the default python symlink *will* be updated to point to Python 3 ![]() I'll still be packaging Python 2.7 for as long as possible, though (because I'm too lazy to update cover mode ;p). |

Gentle reminder than with an up-to-date bridge, you don't need to reinstall it after an update. Just reboot once if things seem funky on first boot.

Another minor round of updates with a few updates across USBnet binaries.
The SSH hostkeys have been re-generated, so don't be surprised if your SSH client shouts at you ![]() |

i am super surprised, (I should say stunned even) because when I was trying to install the last kual update, installation was unsuccesful, and the booklet didn't load (application error). After some digging into logfile i found NOT ENOUGH SPACE TO PROCESS though there was around 99mb of free space still available.
So i deleted some files to about 190 mb of free space, then the installation succeded My question is why MRP installer requires so much free space to install packages? BTW - another extra surprising discovery is that after givin another shot to kpvbooklet with this much space for install it turns out that it works perfectly fine!!! (pw3 5.12.4). I heard people saying that it stopped working since 5.12x so I didn't bother to reinstall it, but surprisingly it still works at least on pw3 Last edited by MaxStirner; 04-07-2020 at 12:00 PM. |

@MaxStirner: Because that's much better than letting a random package fill up your drive and screw everything up.
The high mark is based on the largest packages shipped (USBNet or Python, depending on the platform). MRPI itself will enforce it c.f., http://trac.ak-team.com/trac/browser...taller.sh#L328 Some packages may also enforce a stricter one if need be in their own install script (Python does: http://trac.ak-team.com/trac/browser...install.sh#L50). ---- KPVBooklet itself may appear to behave, but expect all kinds of weird quirks inside KOReader itself when started by KPVBooklet. |

Random comment about a thing that's been mildly bothering me for a while:
If you were wondering why scp remote tab-completion stopped working recently (-ish) in ZSH when the remote is a Kindle, it's because of this ZSH fix, which breaks on Kindle, because the Kindle's busybox build doesn't ship the 'command' applet (that's stupid). Not really fixable on the Kindle side, as that's a shell builtin, not a standalone command. ZSH is entirely right in expecting command to exist, because This Is The Way to do this right (as per POSIX). Last edited by NiLuJe; 04-07-2020 at 04:02 PM. |

Sorry, I'm still confused... update bridge = install latest hotfix?
======== Edit: Just found it... I always look for it at the index page, but can't find it until I find some other post mentioning it is inside the JB file Last edited by lucasrato; 04-18-2020 at 04:36 PM. |

Hi,
I've installed "kindle-jailbreak-0.13.N-r17028.tar.xz", which created "linkjail" folder on the device (used "Update_jailbreak_0.13.N_k3w_install.bin" file, because I have Kindle Keyboard with 3.4.3 (3543620001) firmware). After that I've tried installing "kindle-ss-0.47.N-r17028.tar.xz" and "kindle-dummy-0.N-r16157.tar.xz" (one after another) and both of them failed. Any ideas on fixing? How do I check if Jailbreak actually works? Thanks. |
