I made the complete jailbreaking procedure from the beginning.
And now I have 5.9.6.1 and MRPI and KUAL works

Have you installed the intial factory firmware for your device? Here it is:

Confirm that the last hotfix (on Oct 11) is working very well on my PW3 5.12.1
Just install the hotfix then reinstall KUAL!

I did misunderstand your earlier post about this. So I copied the file above to my Kindle and when I eject from my PC and to to "UPDATE" it looks like it is available and then gets greyed out. The file is gone.

OK, you are the first owner of KOA2 to try (previous downgrade confirmations were from PW3 and PW4).
As I undrestand, you have got jailbroken KOA2 with the latest hotfix installed prior to upgrading to 5.12.2.
We assume that the latest hotfix installed after update allows downgrading to the factory firmware.
So, being on 5.12.2, install the latest hotfix (via UYK) and try to install the initial factory firmware (my link above).
If you have done all the above and failed, we can conlcude that downgrading is not allowed on KOA2.

Had KOA2 with solid JB. Applied latest HotFix. Then manually updated to 5.12.2. Tried to re-install ScreenSaver and Python... no MRPI functions... Reinstalled MR Installer. Tried again... still no good. Tried to reapply HOTFIX... No good. Then saw your note about applying the factory firmware. Tried that this morning... File dissappears from Kindle with no update.

Users with PW3 and PW4 had the same problems but they succeeded with hotfix installation after updating to 5.12.2, so they got the ability to downgrade to the initial factory firmware.

Did you try the factory firmware with the "update" menu entry? If so, you might also want to try copying it over and then restarting the KOA2 and see if that works.

Not 100% sure of this, but you might need to hit the restart menu option with the cable still plugged in. Hopefully someone can confirm or deny this.

I think there are various things that should not be done with USB connected. I don't remember the details, and maybe this is an exception, but it would be best to check and find out before risking making things worse.

Am involuntarily on 5.12.1 with jailbreak intact on my kindle voyage. Latest hotfix applied. Is there any risk with trying to apply the factory 5.5.0 firmware in an attempt to return my KV to safer ground or the factory jailbreak from the OP? I'd rather not upgrade to 5.12.2 for obvious reasons.

No luck. Tried 5.5.0 and 5.10.2. 5.10.2 said invalid update file. 5.5.0 just didn't work either from settings or after a reboot. Staying in airplane mode.
