IMO, AZW3. Much closer to the original ePub (most ebooks are created as ePubs now and converted). Much easier to convert into other book formats.

And you can edit the KF8 eBook using Calibre's editor.

Yes but i tried also with version 1.26 and 1.17 but the file is always .azw3 and not .kfx. With 1.26 iirc the drm is not removed, with 1.17 it's removed but the file is .azw3.

1.17 doesn't know of or handle KFX in any way. It will always download a KF8/AZW3.

You can remove the DRM from KFX downloaded with 1.26. Ask over at Alf's blog or Harper's GitHub if you'd like help.

Yes sure, but the main issue with version 1.26 is that the file is not imported as .kfx. Anyway as i read here it's better to have an azw3/kf8 so i will stick with it.

As long as you haven't disabled KFX downloads and your setup is working, they likely will be KFX on any version from 1.19 to 1.26. But I agree that kf8 is the better conversion and archival format.

Actually I changed nothing, how can I check if KFX download is active?

EDIT: I actually installed version 1.26 from the link in the DeDrm wiki page. The books are imported in "KFX-ZIP" format. Any idea why?

Did you install the KFX Input plugin? You'll likely want the KFX Output plugin as well.

Hi, I downloaded a book in .azw3 format. Followed harper's github instructions by installing calibre 5.6, dedrm 7.0.0b4, installed the plugin and restarted. When I load up the book and try to open it, I still get the "Book locked by DRM" message. Did I do something wrong? Thanks!

DRM isn't getting removed. Ask over at Alf's blog or Harper's GitHub.
