Some older academic, non-fiction Kindle books were also very recently pulled from Amazon. One is The Intentional Stance by Daniel C. Dennett (formerly ASIN B004A16KOK). Another is The Second Self by Sherry Turkle (formerly ASIN B001DITH4I). Both are published by MIT Press. This may be unrelated to what has happened with Pearson or it may be a sign of a larger change going on.

Post #890 suggests that Softonic has 1.26 with the correct checksum. The link, for Windows, is:

1.26.55076

Do make sure to verify the md5 checksum, which should be:

Anyone has a link to 1.26 Mac? Google returns no working links, and the AWS link that is posted everywhere doesn't work anymore…

Just use 1.28 and disable KFX downloads as discribed in the first post in this thread.

I did what apprenticesakuya proposed in the Terminal, the command worked fine, but that just rendered my Kindle app unusable. My guess is I have a slightly newer build than the one for which that patch was supposed for.

(maybe someone's willing to share a working 1.28 patched Mac app?)

chmod -x still works on K4Mac 1.28.0(57029)

apprenticesakuya's patch does not appear to work if you're on Mojave or Catalina, but it does if you're on High Sierra

I hope people know that MD5 is not secure at all. It is not a cryptographic hash function, which means that a malware author could manipulate their executable so that it generates the same MD5 as the valid Kindle for PC executable. This is quite easy to do with a program like HashClash. SHA-1 is also insecure. You should instead give out SHA-256 hashes

Have you a link for 1.17? I lost my DMG in a hard drive crash and was only able to find 1.19 at the time. I'm currently on 1.23.
