i.e. what's the output of Code:
ls -l /Applications/Kindle.app/Contents/MacOS/renderer-test Code:
file /Applications/Kindle.app/Contents/MacOS/renderer-test Now that I think of it, if the goal is to block execution and for K4Mac to see it's failed and therefore not use KFX then all you need is for renderer-test to always fail. Try this: Code:
mv /Applications/Kindle.app/Contents/MacOS/renderer-test /Applications/Kindle.app/Contents/MacOS/renderer-test.orig ln -s `which false` /Applications/Kindle.app/Contents/MacOS/renderer-test |

Why not try the rename and see what happens so you can report back?

Did you do sudo chmod or just sudo alone?
The full command needs to be: Code:
sudo chmod -x /Applications/Kindle.app/Contents/MacOS/renderer-test |

Anyone know if it's possible to force an azw3-download on Kindle for Android (an unrooted tablet)?

Just popping in to say Thank You! I prefer to keep all my books in one reader, and since Kindle is not great with epub formats, I prefer not to use it. Now I can transfer my books again...

Yesterday, I received a email from Epubor. They announced that Epubor Ultimate can remove DRM from Kindle KFX directly. Any of you have tried it? How does it work?

Just installed the latest Kindle for PC (1.20.1 47037) on a Windows 10 PC and the method of renaming renderer-test.exe works fine.
I had to remove and re-download the kfx content. |

Method 2 still works with Kindle for PC 1.21, released today.
(Amazon is calling it "all-new", along with the revised Android and iOS apps, but the changes are actually minor.) |

Do I simply uninstall Kindle for Mac 1.21 and delete the folder? Also I assume once I upgrade from Yosemite to High Sierra 1.17 won't work anymore anyway? And if I stick with Yosemite for now, could I uninstall 1.21 and go into a time machine backup to install 1.17? Last edited by GordonGekko; 10-27-2017 at 09:24 AM. |
