The current displays and how DTV is transmitted (changes & key frames) are very different. LCD & OLED have persistance for different reasons and rather different to CRT scanning. I experimented with my SD camcorder and also my 20M pixel DSLR, which I didn't realise does true 1920x1080 video recording too till I got it (various frame rates). A 4K (3840 x 2160 as there are various 4K) screen is about 8.3M pixels. I pointed the DSLR in video mode at the 4K computer screen. It made no difference if the GPU/GFX output at 24 fps or 60 fps. Nor did it matter which HD mode the camera used. The resulting recording had no banding or flicker or artefacts. I'd say most current TV screens or monitors have their own internal native refresh and convert. As to how the 20 M pixel camera sensor is downsampled to 2M pixel? The 1920x1080 HD. Alternate FW does enable 4K recording but the electronics overheats. You can only do prolonged HD recording in a reasonable ambient temp. About 6 hours of it on an SD card. |

Amazon's new publishing schema applies to books YOU OWN. It's not just KU.

We also sell ebooks on Amazon, as well as most other places, and without DRM. But I won't subscribe to Kindle Unlimited, nor will we use KDP Select, just regular KDP. Amazon changes only apply to ancient Apps and KU. |

Yup. It would have been months from now that I would have noticed anything on my own. Nothing's any different for me yet. And now I know to double-check if purchases can still be retrieved in a DeDRMable non-KFX format before buying anything published post 3 Jan.

I bought an 18th Jan published Kindle eBook, no problem. It was azw3 format.
I've never seen kfx on Direct Download from "Manage my Content and Devices". |

alas, that's not so useful for us without a Kindle (or the desire/means to purchase one).

I bought a Kindle book after January 3 2023. As shared on this forum, the old K4PC-Calibre trick didn't work anymore.
I have a Kindle 4.1.4 and followed the instructions of method 3. The azw file successfully downloaded to the computer. I added it to Calibre and it got listed with a visible cover in the right panel. However, upon opening or converting it said "This book is locked by DRM"... I am not having this issue with older Kindle books that I did successfully de-DRMed using method 3. Any of you have the same problem? Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for any help! |

Probably not. You'll need to remove the ebook and re-add it. |

Is there a trick to getting this "download&transfer" option to work with comics/manga? It works fine for the latest book I purchased, but not the latest manga.
Also, Amazon updated their Japanese store with the new DRM scheme as well. Just FYI for those interested. |

If it's KFX only, you're out of luck.
