I tried that one, but attempting to download the book from KfM 1.31.0 gets the error "PCMAC_126_Delivery_Error_Upgrade_Mac"

We're all clear on that. That's not what was asked. Again, yes, methods 2 and 4 are still an option for now for previously published books. As well as method 3 for all books that have the older format available.

Yes been that way for years , at least on linux. , open with the editor and you get "This book is looked with DRM" warning.

There's an additional wrinkle that just popped up for me.

I have two Oasis (2019) registered to my account. The old one is for a device that doesn't work but I never bothered to deregister it. The new one is a device I purchased late last year.

Today when I tried Method 3 to download to the new Oasis, it was still locked with DRM. If I used Method 3 to my old Oasis then I was able to open the book in Calibre.

Any idea why that's happening? Obviously I will be keeping my old Oasis registered as long as using Method 3 on it still works.

How did you get the copy of the book in order to open it?

Which version of Kindle for PC or Mac did you use to download it?

I downloading via Download and Transfer via USB. I didn't setup KindleforPC on my new laptop since I have a physical Kindle registered to my account.

But for some reason, the Calibre viewer was able to display these KF8 eBooks without first loading into the library. I tried the editor and it says there is DRM. So using the viewer to test for DRM is no longer valid. The test is now to use the editor.

Since Method 3 is download and transfer via USB, do you have both serial numbers entered in the DeDRM configuration dialogue?

You'd need to disable DeDRM to use the viewer to check for DRM.

Hi, Just ran into this problem. So, sorry if this is repetitious, but just to confirm please: if I buy a cheap kindle e.g. what Amazon call their "All-new Kindle (2022 release)", I can use this and USB to "carry on as before"? I just want to be absolutely certain before I spend the money!

Don't turn on WiFi after registered.
Go My Content & Devices. Copy & save your serial number.
Paste it in the plugin downloaded from Git.
Always go My Content & Devices.
Always Download to PC for USB transfer. Any browser that lets you download will work, and can be on Mac, Linux, Windows or Android. Likely iOS too.
Add the the file by right click in filemanger on computer that has Calibre.

It just works. It's simpler than K4PC which hasn't worked here for years. The Basic 2022 is actually very like a PW3.

Well crap. No. But I thought it had been working with the new one without me adding the serial number. So I didn't think of it. Sigh. Thank you for pointing out the obvious to me
