Wow, just discovered this thread. Now I get where Karma accumulates so quickly. Very happy to see that Crutledge is now getting the Karma/appreciation he deserves.

It was fun reading the changing fortunes. Now, if a Karma dinosaur gives you Karma as a newbie, you might just jump over all the funny lines, which is really sad.

The real question is what do you do once you have karma ? Can you exchange it for money or a price reduction on your next book purchase ? Or can you use it to play in lotteries, or to help pay the divorce fees to your lawyer ? Or what ?

I find receiving Karma opens opportunities for a quick chat and so I add 'social value' to it's benefits. |

				Karma > 2^31?

I've now seen karma on a couple of members exceeding 2 billion. I'm just curious if the karma field in the database is a 32-bit integer value so that maybe it's limited to 2^31 or 2^32? Will it ironically wrap back around to 0 (or better still, -2^31), which perhaps means you've been re-in-karma-nated? A while back, folks in this thread talked about a re-vamped karma system which was in the works. Anything happening with that? Just curious. |

Based on the karma economy right now, it's going to take at least 2,000,000,000 karma to buy a loaf of bread.
