Hey, I have the Huey Lewis and the News Sport CD.

Which I listen to from time to time

You can't help loving the music you were raised with.

Huey Lewis is great, it was good music. I even like George Michael still. Wham, tough... not so much .

Let's not fight and simply agree that nothing, ever, will be better than the Clash (not sarcastic here, I really, really dig them)

By the way, I love how so many people are now using "palindromed" casually as if it really was an actual word. I'm so touched, it brings a tear to my eye. This shall be my most valuable contribution to this dark, lonely world full of hopelessness and despair.

If Oxford English Dictionary and/or Merriam-Webster decide to include it, just remember where you heard it first.

Well, my Karma has now been depalindromed

hello, all, i'm a brand new newbie wondering what exactly this karma means? is it a way for us to differentiate among "trusted" posters who give reasonable advice? points toward something tangible? a way to show how often we frequent the board???

You can reward karma points to posts that you feel were helpful or enjoyable in some way. The points that you awarded, are added to the amount of points that the post author has in total, and everyone can see their total. In theory, the more karma points a person has, the more helpful or active community member they are.

This is used to differentiate things a bit from post counts, since some people can have a high post count and be a problematic forum member, or have few posts but be extremely helpful when they do post. For instance, some developers of various popular ebook programs come to the forums, and even have subforums for their apps. They may not be extremely active, since they could spend their free time working on their particular app, but still be extremely valued members of the community.

I hope this makes sense.

Hey. Look at me. I even figured out how to add an avatar.

Now for another lesson. Is there a way to check who you have given karma to? Just in case we're old and forget.

I've often wondered why karma is there, but never really figured it out. Probably early in the board's life it was to reward people for making informative posts, but it seems to have gone far beyond that now! It's fun, though, and maybe that's all it needs to be.

I like hovering over people's "squares" too, to find out what their slogan is. Once I read that you can change it yourself, but maybe that's an urban myth.
