"Failed to connect to worker process" is an error message from Calibre failing to correctly spawn a background job to run the download.

I don't think there's anything specific to FanFicFare that could be causing it. I suspect you'd see the same thing trying to run Convert or other background jobs.

I would try:

Check to make sure your hard drive isn't full.
Reboot your computer
Reinstall FanFicFare
Reinstall Calibre
Run Calibre in debug mode (under the Preferences dropdown) to see if it gives more useful information.

I have a Problem with Literotica's Illustrated stories, I'm not tech savvy to the degree of fixing this.
I think it's simple but could be wrong as the illustration/picture do not download and haven't since about October Last year this is the internal code

I'll try and have a look over the weekend. Can you PM a link to a story that is failing? I can probably find one, but, testing one you know fails is a good idea.

FYI, it appears that fanfiction.net is having server issues this morning. Please try your story URLs in a browser before reporting any problems here.

Good news: fanfiction.net is back. According to their twitter, they had a network device fail that screwed up their network for a while. Now fixed.

Bad news: SpaceBattles and Sufficient Velocity have changed their RSS pages for threadmarks (currently used by FFF to collect chapters) to only include the most recent chapters and list them in reverse order.

I've posted a test version that fixes it, but there may be more threadmarks changes coming.

Calibre with FFF isn't attaching a table of contents when I DL anything from either ao3 or ff.net. Can someone help me please?

What ebook format are you using? Default behavior for epub is to include the TOC in metadata only, but you can add an explicit TOC before the chapters by adding include_tocpage: true in your FFF personal.ini settings. See the personal.ini tab of FFF config.

So, starting about two days ago, stories downloaded from Spacebattles and Sufficient Velocity have decided to only download the latest ten chapters and put them in reverse order. I am using the latest version availible on the calibre plugins page, and AFAIK I haven't changed any settings recently. The link that I first noticed it with was this and I'd really like to be able to download from SB/SV again.

EDIT: I feel stupid, I just finished checking the patch notes literally 3 posts up. Derp. My bad, sorry.
Is it possible that in whatever fix you do to solve this you can include something to automatically redownload any stories affected by it?

Not really.

I'd search by site name (it's in Identifiers usually), sort on Updated column (if you keep one) or Calibre's Modified column, maybe Chapters if you keep a column for it.

An alternative would be to set it so that it checks this page for links.
Adding the Threadmarks?category_id=1 to the end of any link to a page with threadmarks will display a page with all of the threadmarks in order alongside links that will go to the different categories of threadmarks. Not sure if this helps or not depending on how you actually gather the chapters and what not.

Maybe also add a check to see if the chapters match up correctly or an option for a complete redownload? I know a number of authors that tend to go back and edit things after a while.

Hi, I was wondering if there was any way this plugin would allow you to download fics from ao3 but also with the comments that were posted on the fic? Authors and readers often have interesting replies about the work (and sometimes they're pretty lengthy) that I'd love to be able to read on an e-ink screen.

If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated, thanks!

@Ryune - That is the URL FFF (test version) is using now(again). There are options for updating stories with more chapters than before (Update EPUB if new Chapters) and checking all existing downloaded chapter URLs vs reported chapter URLs (Update EPUB always) and overwrite everything (Overwrite Always).

@polyp - FFF does not have an option for downloading the text of comments on stories. It's been requested before, but I don't think it's a good fit for FFF's paradigm. There are a number of complications trying to do that just for one site and FFF supports a hundred different sites...

@polyp - Given that the comment posts are fetched from the AO3 servers via javascript, possibly requiring login, you'd need a special purpose tool for it.
